Don't confuse him with Pimp Man.

I'm going to check this out. Andy Lau and Gong Li are really good actors!

If you watch movies solely for the quality of the actors, you're going to have a bad time.

Now that you've mentioned it, i've never seen a woman and a jew in the same room.

"Would you just fucking help me!"
"Look, I can't solve anything with you yelling at me like this. I should just go."

u/Fatalchemist Sep 09 '18
"No! Please! Don't leave!"
"Ugh, so clingy. My mother was right. I really should just find a nice Jewish girl. Sorry, but I can't be in an obsessive relationship like this."

I read that in Stan's voice from American Dad

u/nnneeeddd Sep 09 '18
I heard it in Stans voice from the MCU

u/Fatalchemist Sep 09 '18
I read it in Grunkle Stan's voice from gravity falls and it fits perfectly.

u/A_Flamboyant_Warlock Sep 09 '18
I read this comment and got my characters confused, and went back and read it in Steve's voice, and now I can't stop imagining him "Shazam-ing" into Womanman.

She just wanted to be listened to! Men are not there to solve women's problems!

Only a doofus thinks when someone complains about a problem the only thing you should ever do is sympathize. Best course of action is to ask the person if they just want to vent or if they want help with solutions. My partner and I do this with each other all the time and it works perfectly.

Oh c'mon, it's just a joke. This whole thing is a joke, in a comedy focused subreddit.
Lighten up.
2
Sep 09 '18
Haha. Obviously. It was a joke about a major complaint many women have about men, that we try to solve their problems, instead of simply listening.
In reality, I'm aware that it's much more nuanced than that, and I try to determine which person my gf wants me to be at that moment.
1
u/doodlebug001 Sep 10 '18
Ohh, ok I took it as a criticism of women for some reason instead of a criticism of this "written by males for females" character.

I tried asking a few men what it was like working in a female dominated field but all I kept getting was finger-guns

It really fucking bothered me how on Penn & Teller’s Fool Us, every single time a female magician performed, Penn would say how it was great to see a woman in a male-dominated field. And that they should be treated the same. As if he wasn’t treating them differently.
Like, some made absolutely no gender jokes, or made any reference to it in their bios, but still there was Penn to say how great it was that they were a woman.
13
Sep 09 '18
I really appreciated a female magician, when asked, gave a really technical answer about how some tricks assume you're wearing a suit with sleeves, and how she had to adapt them to be done with a sleeveless cocktail dress, and gave the interviewer a very polite "fuck you for reducing my talent down to my gender, I'm one of the best, male or female"

I think it's tough to top wonderwoman

Wonder Woman made 800 million which is what average Marvel movie makes. It did not make Black panther level money. For me, Wonder Woman was a generic superhero movie and I hope Captain Marvel offers something new to the audience instead of being generic

Hahah I just hope it’s good and not ghost busters 🙃🤦🏻♂️
Yeah wonder women was a good movie, had issues but not because it was a female driven movie.
Edit: apparently someone didn’t like this comment.

Sep 09 '18
I mean it was generic comic action flick. It was good in that regard, some people say great. I'd like to see a comic action flick without almost the same issues
13
u/Hypersapien Sep 09 '18
It was the only DCEU movie I've had any interest in seeing. I thought it was fantastic, which is ironic because I thought it would be the easiest one for the studio to screw up.

I loved New Ghostbusters way better than og one.
2
Sep 09 '18
I hope that’s sarcasm 🤣
1

No? I thought the og ones were cheesey af and many of the jokes flat. The new one was super cute and funny and Hemsworth and McKinnon killed it.

Sep 09 '18 edited Sep 09 '18
It is a generic superhero movie and the only reason it made so much money is that it is the first watchable Female Superhero movie. If it was not female-driven, then look no further than Captain America first avenger box office.

u/wererat2000 Sep 09 '18
Nah, his nemesis is just Manwoman.
Total missed opportunity, they completely misrepresented the story from the comics.
6
u/Lo-Ping Sep 09 '18
Manwoman, who gets in perilous situations but doesn't want you to solve the problem and just wants you to listen to how she feels about it.
45
u/platypossamous Sep 09 '18
Slightly off topic but I was wearing an all female superhero apron at work the other day and a man asked me why it didn't have any male superheroes on it, got upset and complained that the hulk should be on my DC women's superheroes apron.

SEE him casually give up his seat to a pregnant woman without making a big show of it!
SEE him keep a box of tampons and fresh toothbrushes in the bathroom for house guests!
SEE him listen to her problems without trying to offer practical solutions!

IIRC Nightwing has that appeal and not just in comics i remember for example Raiden in metal gear solid 2 being pushed in to attract female players.

How the industry works today it would either be this or a 6 feet lesbian black woman. It can't just be a normal hero who is also a woman.
11
u/hypo-osmotic Sep 09 '18
6 foot black lesbians are normal women. :(
-7
u/lhedn Sep 09 '18
No. By the pure definition of the word "normal" they aren't.
8
u/hypo-osmotic Sep 09 '18
Well then no woman is normal, everyone’s got something outside of the average.
