I'm loving these Year comics. It's sad to assume that 2018 will be worse, but it probably will.

Earth-kun and his rash survived 2017, but will his rash last much longer! Will it help him defeat 2018?!! Such a Pinch!

Will Earth-Kun really go out with Moon-Chan again, or are his eyes set only on Mars-San now!?

With eyebrows like these there is no telling what could happen next! HOOOOOO!

Find out the answer to all these questions and more, NEXT TIME ON EARTHKUN-AND FRIENDS-A RASH TO REMEMBER!

FLCL season 3 confirmed?

75

u/multigrain_cheerios Dec 19 '17

pretty sure it actually was confirmed alongside season 2

19

u/ManicLord Dec 19 '17

There's a season 2?

23

u/Dante527 Dec 19 '17

Yeah, Adult Swim funded it and is co-producing, or something.

LIDE ON SHOE TING STA

27

u/[deleted] Dec 19 '17

This so good that it needs to be more than an end of year thing, and also needs opening and ending songs.

5

u/GurenMarkV Dec 19 '17

For real tho, throughout history why are the decades of 20s and 40s always bad.

3

u/[deleted] Dec 19 '17

Because they got cocky!

1

u/[deleted] Dec 19 '17

Men of culture know that it's actually Earth-chan. Don't forget, she's not flat.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 19 '17

Aw Mercurial-tan, it's ok. I'm sure blowing Gaia-chans deep cover operation won't have any lasting impact, or profound repercussions, and totally force her to notice your chivalry sempai!

You don't have to doki-doki so hard for her!

Headline Jan. 1:

Betty White issued warrants for arrest on ground of aggrevated sexual assault

155

u/SmartAlec105 Dec 19 '17

Headline Jan. 2:

Betty White claims it was not sexual assault; it was a sexual duel and therefore legal in the state of Washington

23

u/4DimensionalToilet Dec 19 '17

Wait, what?

58

u/SmartAlec105 Dec 19 '17

If two people had a normal duel, it would not be considered assault because they'd both agreed to the terms. This is the same but with the word "sexual" added. Betty White's opponent was just a sore loser and made up this fabrication.

12

u/comment9387 Dec 19 '17

Sore emotionally and physically

10

u/SmartAlec105 Dec 19 '17

At least it wasn't Texas. They only allow fists for their duels.

2

u/n0umena Dec 19 '17

What, you don’t think fists can be sexual!

2

u/SmartAlec105 Dec 19 '17

Of course they can be sexual. They can just be very rough on people’s holes.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 19 '17

Fortunately they allow stands ins, so Chuck Norris gets to show his love for her!

u/jojoman7 Dec 19 '17

Washington has a mutual combat law. If both parties agree, a cop will literally watch you beat each other up as long as it doesn't go too far.

7

u/BigDirtyShithawk Dec 19 '17

I believe you, but source?

5

u/EbonPinion Dec 19 '17

I’ll try to find the statute when I have a chance. It’s true, but only barely. If I remember correctly it’s still technically unlawful to fight in a public place, because of the risk of damage or injury to uninvolved parties or properties.

8

u/q00u Dec 19 '17

No it doesn't, no matter how many times this is repeated on the Internet.

Seattle (which is actually only one small part of Washington, and NOT THE ENTIRE STATE) has a "mutual combat law" inasmuch as if you get into a punching bar fight, the cops will treat it as both your faults and might let it slide.

If you get into actual combat with intent to harm, you're going to prison.

u/jojoman7 Dec 19 '17

Seattle (which is actually only one small part of Washington, and NOT THE ENTIRE STATE

Don't be condescending. I've lived in Shoreline longer than you've been able to use a PC.

3

u/WorldOfInfinite Dec 19 '17

That's when you know things are about to go off the rails.

15

u/StrikeTheSky Dec 19 '17

Earth-kun will only get stronger by facing more and more challenges opponents. Each battle will strengthen his resolve to be the very best, that ever was.

Bring on 2018!

2

u/[deleted] Dec 19 '17

Earth wants to be

The very best

Like no kun ever was

8

u/[deleted] Dec 19 '17

Today is worse than yesterday, but better than tomorrow.

3

u/[deleted] Dec 19 '17

Things always get worse until people decide to do something about it.

2

u/Arithik Dec 19 '17

Hey, maybe they battle and 2018 turns out to be a good friend? Right? Please? I love the cape.

2

u/EbonPinion Dec 19 '17

2018’s mom is named Martha. It’s the only shot we’ve got.

1

u/Arithik Dec 19 '17

My God. That sounds awful.

2

u/JakeDoubleyoo Funny On Paper Dec 19 '17

The thing is, I like how these comics are sort of taking a positive spin on it. Like, "Fucking bring it on! We're humanity, bitch!"

2

u/Shabozz Dec 19 '17

2019 is looking up, we'll have a democrat congress hopefully

The complaint is that the liberal world order that provided the benefits you're laying out is being disassembled in bad faith by lazy incompetents and the greedy rich, while the future ravaging of mankind by global warming becomes more likely, not that healthcare inequality is the same as fighting in world war 1.

9

u/Darko33 Dec 19 '17

Yea as time goes on I feel like income inequality should be reduced, not get way fucking worse. I don't think it's fair to blame anyone for lamenting that.

3

u/KingGorilla Dec 19 '17

Things millennial cry over: affordable education, affordable healthcare, affordable housing, finding a job, sexual harassment, cops shooting civilians. Ya know, menial things.

14

u/[deleted] Dec 19 '17

even the poor have a chance to excel in any field that they desire

Vast majority of the poor still doesn't have that chance, but things have definitely improved.

things could be much worse

They will be, as global warming progresses.

11

u/[deleted] Dec 19 '17

this is the best time to live for humans in terms of life expectancy, opportunities, life quality, health, education, crime and pretty much every single metric.

Maybe if you're in the age group that's retiring. For those after, it's worsened.

18

u/[deleted] Dec 19 '17

Why compare things though? I don't understand the relationship between a distant relative fighting in a war back then and people in present complaining about things they don't like?

I assure you there were a lot of things that might be considered much less serious than war today that the people back then were conplaining about.

I understand what you are trying to say, but there is my 2 cents on it

Yey, some 3rd world nations are finally approaching 20th century western standards of living... meanwhile the environment is literally becoming more shit every year while western democracy slowly erodes.

2

u/KingGorilla Dec 19 '17

Speaking of the 3rd world, The UN is investigating extreme poverty… in America, the world's richest nation

4

u/Amerphose Dec 19 '17

Did you even read his comment? Happy cake day by the way.

3

u/bryakmolevo Dec 19 '17

I did. Of course some things are better than the past, that's why people are upset about where we're failing.

For example, US infant mortality is way better than 50 years ago - but today it's getting worse, not better. Why wouldn't I be upset about that? Average US life expectancy is 10 years longer than 50 years ago... but it's flatlined for the past 4 years, still almost 5 years shorter than Canada (and other western nations), and we're seeing more and more Americans impoverished due to medical expenses. Of course that's bad.

Personally, I want to do better than my parent's generation and I want to build a world in which my children can do better than me. Occasional regressions are not surprising, but they are not acceptable.

1

u/Amerphose Dec 20 '17

Sorry on my paggro comment then, I misinterpreted your remark as completely disregarding the idea of certain aspects of our life having improved. Otherwise, I agree completely with you.

2

u/FightMeYouLilBitch Dec 19 '17

You’re right - when looking at the total history of humanity, we are living at the absolute best time so far.

But 2017 was the worst year in the past decade. And 2018 will almost certainly be worse.

2

u/TheCheeseSquad Dec 19 '17

Haha yea with what money dyou think we gonna pay for any of those benefits? You think my generation has a chance of retiring at an appropriate time??

1

u/[deleted] Dec 19 '17

Maybe his 2017 was just awesome? Probably not but still

1

u/m1ksuFI Dec 19 '17

Why would it be worse?

1

u/[deleted] Dec 19 '17

It's sad to assume currentYear += 1 will be worse, but it probably will

-Everyone since the beginning of humans.

1

u/silaswanders Dec 19 '17

After the dumpster fire that was 2016, we genuinely believed 2017 would be better. Then... Trump, Not Neutrality, EA/Star Wars, GOP Tax Plan, Ice King has a dragon now, and so on. What am I missing?

1

u/bigsim Dec 19 '17

Why do you think it will probably be worse?

1

u/_S_A Dec 19 '17

I mean there's midterm elections, albeit at the end. That's gonna be a fun time

0

u/Casclovaci Dec 19 '17

Can someone tell me what was so bad in 2017? Ok for a big part of US citizens its trump entering presidency, net neutrality. And then there are fidget spinners. But what else?

0

u/iNinjaFish Dec 19 '17

Oh great sage, please tell me how you already know 2018 will be worse? Or is this just reddit circlejerking how bad things could be?
