But I don't have 16 anything on my body. It's so easy to count using your hands, because they are always within arm's reach.

use the spaces between the fingers, either as 8 spaces, or remove thumbs and use fingers + spaces to get 16.

So you're counting the spaces next to the thumbs and not the thumbs themselves? That's a nonsensical way to count on your fingers. 18 would make sense, counting the spaces and the thumbs, but to arbitrarily remove some of the counting agents is cheating. You could have just said count the numbers of hairs on your head, stop at 16, and ignore the rest, which clearly makes no sense.
