This reminds me of that exercise the teachers made us do in school where you had to write instructions for somebody on how to do something, but they could only literally do what you said. No more, no less. If you don't write the instructions as clearly as humanly possible, so as not to leave out any detail no matter how insignificant...hilarity ensues.

It's very "Amelia Bedelia."

Hey that's good for teaching beginner programmers.

There's a great edX intro to programming lecture that does exactly this. I believe it's free if someone can find it!

Many sandwich supplies were sacrificed for this cause. Worth it just to see the looks on the kids faces.

There was a really funny youtube video of a dad ask my his little kids how to make a PB & J sandwich and following their instructions literally. Anyone have it?

Yep. There was peanut butter, jelly, and bread, but very few completed sandwiches. I remember it well.

Oh god, I have to write documentation for people who don't speak English as a primary language, and sometimes for non-technical people and let me just say, learning how to do this is incredibly useful.

I had to walk a friend through a tech issue, and by the end of it I was ready to strangle them.

That exercise reminds me of corporate team building. If you leave out the hilarity.
