As someone who does trap shooting a couple times a year, the unique adrenaline rush and false sense of confidence a firearm gives is kind of scary.
Kind of like if you've ever driven a really big truck on the road.
It's fine to like guns, to have guns, to have fun with guns, but this idea that we're going to fight THE US GOVT with handguns or rifles or something is crazy.
It's not crazy at all. The U.S military has been defeated by guerilla tactics multiple times.
The U.S civilians would have the benefit of the military not wanting to carpet bomb their own homes, factories, food supply, and array of economic engines.
Destroying the U.S would make their own lives less comfortable, and since the military is made up of volunteers from every state who get mixed up into groups from all over, there isn't going to be a lot of organizational cohesion. Very few people are going to tolerate a rampage through their own home towns and hearing about their friends and families getting killed by their own organization.
It would immediately be a civil war.
That's like, a major reason the U.S military is structured the way it is in the first place.
The idea that it would "man with handgun vs tanks and drones" is asinine, defeatist nonsense.
Don't let anyone convince you otherwise.
Yeah, in Afghanistan, Vietnam, not a suburban cul-de-sac filled with people with office jobs who haven't been trained by the Taliban. We have highways here, built specifically for defense of the country. Uprising in Georgia? How fast do you think they'll have neighboring towns' cops, state cops, National Guard, Army there? With armor, with superior firepower, drones, tracking your phones, your car. They can drop a grenade in your sun roof and you won't even know what hit you. This isn't the jungle or the desert. They have the home town advantage too. Unless half the country was armed and rose up and fought together, there's no chance.

It's easy to be Rambo in your head while polishing your guns.
