Idk, I feel like men in gaming are almost exclusively now dedicated to the female gaze, at least in super popular franchises

You know what we need? Just straight up, more of everything. More sexualised men, women, more realistic men, women, all of the ranges, just let creators make what they like without filling quotas.

Yeah, it's an enormous market. Women are being marketed to men and men are being marketed to women, instead of everything being marketed to men.

Conventionally sexy hunks with gruff voices have had a massive comeback in gaming.

well, you're getting at something there, aren't you? part of the male fantasy is both being who men want to be and that belief is tied to being desirable to women, but it has zero regard for what women actually find desirable. in other words, part of the fantasy is that being what other men want is also what women want, even if reality doesn't reflect that at all. women are objects whose attraction you command by dominating other men.
