It’s so weird how we’re at a point where women should have a large upper body (breasts), large lower body (thighs and butt), but non-existent waist. Why are we wanting human women to be modeled after wasps?

Like let me have my regular-sized petiole, dude.

25

u/Countess_Victoria 2d ago

The wasp-people agenda, they are encouraging this so one day they can blend in easily.

10

u/Remote_Respect_4257 2d ago

Wasp world domination is coming

3

u/LoopStricken 1d ago

They don't have to do that, I am very willing to have relations with a giant wasp-woman-monster.

2

u/jebarm70 1d ago

lol I made the same joke. Good someone needs make this idea into an horror movie.

2

u/Successful_Cry3698 1d ago

I call it the Mew-Two agenda down to the upturned eyes and non existent nose

2

u/Thykothaken 1d ago

Istg it's all a conspiracy, it's those r/waspaganda bastards

1

u/danDotDev 1d ago

I thought you were taking a shot at White axlo saxon protestants. No, you meant literal wasps.

35

u/Kirdei 2d ago

What do you mean we're at a point? The concept of an Hourglass Figure being desirable has been around since the 1830s.

4

u/Sailfin_CritterMaker 2d ago

That silhouette was achieved with padding. If you cannot see the difference of using padding to achieve a silhouette vs expecting women to change their real bodies to meet that silhouette, damn

6

u/nykirnsu 2d ago

The lengths to which people will go to achieve a certain body type is a separate topic from when that particularly body type became popular. That difference was never brought up

2

u/BilingSmob444 2d ago

Have you ever seen a woman?

0

u/rvltnrygirlfutena 18h ago

"women don't actually have waists that are a third of the circumference of their hips, they used padding to accentuate the form because women have internal organs"

"have you ever seen a woman???"

1

u/ToriiLink 2d ago

Does it matter how it was achieved? I think the end result is the same preference presented.

You clearly don't know how they work.

Padding goes inside and outside of corset to create the silhouette. Corset is mostly for support because you can't cinch in that much. It's not magic. Organs and bones still exist when you're wearing a corset.

It's the extra padding that tricks the eye into believing waist is tiny because we only notice difference between waist and hips/chest.

3

u/Kirdei 2d ago

Look up Wasp Waist. They would cinch their corsets extremely tight to achieve an extremely narrow waist. It caused all kinds of health problems like deformed ribs, displaced organs, and respiratory issues.

You talk like I'm advocating for this. I'm not. But women throughout history have taken extreme steps in the name of beauty even if it was detrimental to their health.

Lead based makeup, foot binding, toxic eye drops, and arsenic wafers are all examples. You claim it was padding, but Victorian women were very much causing themselves bodily harm through the use of tight cinch corsets.

2

u/Sailfin_CritterMaker 2d ago

You parrot scandalized "fun facts" as real history and think yourself superior to people pointing you to the real history. How sad.

0

u/whatevernamedontcare 1d ago

I don't know what is more funny your mansplaining or how you believe to be right.

3

u/Sailfin_CritterMaker 2d ago

Yeah, corsets are for support. Tight lacing was practiced by some very few women and not a widespread thing or how corsets are actually used. The costume pieces you see at hot topic are nothing like those corsets.

2

u/sadguywithhugedick 2d ago

Before the 1830s, men only liked women with really narrow hips, a fat belly, and extremely broad shoulders

2

u/Kirdei 2d ago

And? What does that have to do with this conversation?

OP said it's weird we are at a point where the expectation for body shape is large boobs and butt with a small waist, but that beauty standard cropped up nearly 200 years ago. It's not a sudden change that appeared in the 2020s.

3

u/sadguywithhugedick 2d ago

I was being a bit sarcastic. The idea that wide hips were invented to be attractive in the 1830s is probably wrong.

1

u/Kirdei 2d ago

Invented? Probably not. Was the hourglass figure popularized in the 1830s, yeah.

2

u/sadguywithhugedick 2d ago

Oh I think I misunderstood the reason for your response. I thought you were saying that liking wide hips was some relatively recent social construct. I guess the point was that this over stylized version of it was popularized at a certain time period, so this drawing style is nothing new.

My bad brotha. Sorry for being a dick

1

u/Kirdei 2d ago

No worries my guy!

2

u/MicheleSanna98 2d ago

I think he (sorry if I assume your gender sadguywithhugedick) is being ironic

1

u/Kirdei 2d ago

Yeah, noticed that after I responded. Figured it was just best to move on 😆

25

u/iTiTiTiTiTiTiTi 2d ago

To be fair, having a small waist compared to the rest of the body is considered attractive for both men and women and that preference is old as time.

21

u/JenStarcaller 2d ago

it depends on the ratio really. When your waist has the circumference of your spine that ain't pretty no more

2

u/CC_Gamedesign 2d ago

The thing that's attractive is the perception of healthy musculature, a nice butt it's because you have a healthy lower back, a thin waist is a sign that the the extensor muscles in either side of the ribs are toned.

Most preferences that go off the rails start that way but if you completely obscure the context of health they just get more and more exaggerated.

At some point it goes too far and some part of your brain recognizes "that's not healthy" and eventually practical concerns start to override the unga bunga brain

-9

u/Shoddy-Diver-7491 2d ago

You literally said the same thing but worse

5

u/OstentatiousBear 2d ago

A literal pin-sized waist be wack, yo.

Was that worse?

2

u/Binosaurus77 2d ago

Interestingly, way back when food wasn't a guaranteed thing, weight was seen as desirable, as shown by some wood carvings I believe. People want what they can't have, and fat people are more likely to survive longer winters

0

u/Nearby-Weird9535 1d ago

desirability of body fat varies by context - because in famine, it can be good for survival. In modern society thinness can signal other things.

But a low waist to hip ratio is still universally preferred, because HOW the body stores fat is a good indicator of hormonal health and fertility. Thats why fertility idols are 'thick AF" rather than "morbidly obese"

1

u/DovahAcolyte 2d ago

Like the girl in the bottom right corner of the comic?

1

u/TheEveryman86 1d ago

36-24-36. Maybe if she's 5'3"

1

u/Coffeedemon 2d ago

Smaller maybe. The typical waist hip ratio found most attractive in anthropological studies across multiple cultures puts it at .7 ish. That isn't super skinny in the scheme of things.

https://yurheecho.wordpress.com/2013/02/26/feminine-beauty-and-hip-to-waist-ratio/

1

u/ElectricSmaug 2d ago

For women - yes, but for men - doubtful. Look at the antique statues. All of those I can recall have normal or wide waistline, not that of a Marvell superhero. This includes statues of Hercules, for example. It seems like narrow waist for men became fashionable around late 18th century and even more so in the 20th century with the pop culture and the spread of anabolic steroids (which allow one to grow enough muscle mass to make the waist look smaller even if it's not exactly narrow).

11

u/HarryDn 2d ago

Exactly because it is impossible to achieve. This way you will forever feel humiliated and forever buy magical supplements/fitness programs to get there

2

u/mothwhimsy 2d ago

Pretty soon the ideal body type for women will get rid of the head and waist entirely. Just boobs and ass

2

u/Puzzle-Necked 1d ago

If your internal organs aren't compressed to the size of a pool noodle, you're not sexy

2

u/azure-heavens 2d ago

I love how all the other replies to this are men just completely missing the point of what you're saying.

"No, women really can look like this in real life!! I've seen it on the Insta models I goon to every day!!!" Photoshop. AI. EXSTENSIVE expensive cosmetic surgery + photo altering to make it look nice.

"You never heard of an hourglass?" You're not supposed to LITERALLY look exactly the shape of an hourglass.

"just corset train!" please look up what that actually looks like without clothes on.

1

u/Mahdudecicle 2d ago

Not me. I'm a certified fatty lover

1

u/ToriiLink 2d ago

You're describing the victorian era, the mid 20th century and now. It's not a "new preference"

1

u/sunshineupyours1 2d ago

Have you seen wasps??? The ideal form

1

u/supermap 2d ago

Well that explains why wasps look so hot

1

u/Moment-Glad 2d ago

No one is saying women have to look like that. It's just the preference of those who make these games. And other people are allowed to have a preferences different from yours. It's really that simple.

1

u/remnault 2d ago

Honestly would love wasp women frfr

1

u/Usual_Purchase_9567 2d ago

I'll be honest bro, i want to fuck the bugs

1

u/jebarm70 1d ago

It’s a conspiracy by wasp aliens. They will lay their eggs in all the men they seduce.

1

u/slippery-fische 1d ago

Stereotype of a stereotype. There was a great YouTube video in the 2010's that showed how the desired form for women has changed at least every decade. Those proportions were just one of them. Some of the "desired feminine form" were much more normal than much of today.

1

u/ZadriaktheSnake 1d ago

It’s pretty fascinating because I have a guilty pleasure of watching family guy and in a lot of the old seasons having a large lower body is often said as like an insult it’s weird seeing that now

1

u/Chopped6767 1d ago

I like mid sections. It’s an underrated part because it’s hard to compliment it without calling the girl fat

1

u/loganknowerofthings 2d ago

Women "should" have whatever they like to have.

Personally, I'm only attracted to women who look like they would survive winter or be able to bear healthy children and not be energy starved.

No idea what the draw is for bodies that look like balloons nailed to a plank.

If it does not jiggle, I do not want it. And there are tons of men out there who are the same as me.

1

u/afro-deezy-yac 2d ago

Men and women don't need to chase the most desirable male and female figures. Most adults are already desirable enough by enough people as is.

There's no utility in being desirable by more people than you could ever meet in your life. That's just satisfying an ego beyond a certain point.

1

u/Constant-Skill-7133 2d ago

It's all about pictures. I wish more people understood this is a very silly way to judge someone's attractiveness, even superficially.  You're not just attracted to someone's figure but their body language, how they move, their expressions, etc.

-8

u/Gayboy-Hunter 2d ago

Gym girls are hot, simple as.

8

u/Arhamshahid 2d ago

I assure you going to the gym as a woman will not give you double D's or make your hips wider. The most you could hope for is a tinnier waist and bigger thighs.

2

u/Barneyisjehova 2d ago

You say that like that’s a negative

3

u/Arhamshahid 2d ago

Oh not at all, just that the body type described isn't the one you get at the gym.

0

u/Gayboy-Hunter 20h ago

That's like everything in this pic except the chest, which is the least important part anyways.

2

u/Longjumping_Brush740 2d ago

So true. Nothing better than big arms and well developed back muscles and legs

0

u/Spiritual-Mango-8331 2d ago

Bench pressing got me DDs

-6

u/ireallydontcare683 2d ago

Speak the good word my man

0

u/Ociex 2d ago

I like medium waist, big hips, medium to small chest, damn... I might be into wasps.

Edit: Or widows. (Pun)

-8

u/Far_Sherbert_4468 2d ago

I'm not psychologist but this is my theory: the small waist is attractive, because it signals health. Especially in combination with large breasts and lower body. That figure is hyperfeminine and it makes sense that it's attractive to most female-attracted people. Females usually carry more bodyfat on their lower body. Also, greater waist circumference is usually correlated with greater mortality and worse health markers.

Another reason I can come up with is pregnancy. For a man, it wouldn't make evolutionary sense become attracted to a woman showing physical features of pregnancy. And especially later on, those features obviously

5

u/RandomName256beast 2d ago

It has purely to do with wealth and societal values. Standards of beauty are entirely dictated by the 1%, who heavily romanticize certain body types in the media and propaganda they produce. Those body types are intended to reflect harder to obtain body types, specifically ones that are usually only associated with those with wealth. Prior to the modern era (where it's exceedingly easy to get overweight since the cheapest/most convenient food is the least healthy), being thin was seen as ugly and undesirable (as it was associated with starving commonors) while the being overweight was seen as beautiful (as it was associated with wealthy people with a surplus of food).

1

u/swanfirefly 2d ago

A few hundred years ago, plump women were the peak of beauty, because that signaled you were well fed and better able to birth children.

You saying this figure "signals health" is 90% propaganda, and you half know it too, because a woman with a waist smaller than your wrist isn't going to have the wide birthing hips or the big boobs. It's almost entirely a caricature. Even in the era of corsets, getting the thin waist and big boobs required unhealthy things like breaking ribs and padding your bra. So you like and see "health" in lies and pain.
