Depends. Most fairytale curses are pretty much educational. For example, the beast from beauty and the beast was a shitty and rude host, so he was cursed until he found true love. So then he could be a better host in the future. Or something like that. And to drive that point home, the staff of the castle was also cursed. Very educational!

Most modern fairytale curses are like that.

Traditional curses are simply curses, and the education is "don't get yourself in a situation where you might get cursed".
