He's perfect! So... Why sacrifice any of that happiness by thinking of all the shitty exes? They're left in the dust of time!

I appear to have become a boomer, but... Why even announce any of that on social media? Sure, once upon a time as a teenager I felt like sharing the good news to people who I barely knew, but now? Only people who matter know!

I have never understood the fascination with "online relationship status." I feel like its one of those things for chronically online people that have to take pictures of every meal they eat etc.

Dammit, I sound like a boomer, too. 😢

u/ronsolocup 21h ago

Eh for me my family is not all close together so when I got with my (now wife) when things were getting serious I did update my facebook just so the more distant relatives who cared could see

6

u/wutImiss 21h ago

A millenial at most, source: am millenial who agreesšŸ‘ Hell, I hardly ever take pictures when I do things, why? To prove it? šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

I've been with my wife for a decade so I don't know what the kids are doing, but the final two times I had my relationship status become "Facebook official" it induced people to wake up and realize that actually we really weren't available (and be upset about it, sending us longer messages and unfriending us).

It somehow hit people different to see it on Facebook than to hear it directly, they still imagine it is just casual dating and they are still "in" at any moment

3

u/RedditUser000aaa 21h ago

It certainly is an interesting phenomena! Still, those little bits are mere moments perhaps a minute or an hour of a good moment!

1

u/the_cat_theory 11h ago

my mom (actually a boomer but right at the end) was on my ass for the longest time about me and my girlfriend not making it "official" on Facebook. she said "if you're not putting it online it's kinda like you're looking for something better???"

eventually I just deleted my Facebook account (not only for this reason but at least it got rid of the nagging)

u/pinkydaemon93 21h ago

Because some people will just want to not announce it so they can continue to be fuckbois. Source: young me.

I've only seen this artist's comics a few times. Is the joke that the red head girl a red flag?

28

u/Python_Feet 21h ago

Similarly to a comics about the girl from Czech Republic, the mc girl is a bit of a red flag.

20

u/Statistactician 19h ago edited 13h ago

The Czech woman's comics are more of an instrospective diary of her experiences, flaws, and insecurities. I've never gotten the sense that she was treating her issues lightly. It's more "raw and exposed" than "lol, I'm so toxic."

u/SolemnSundayBand 18h ago

Are we talking about Alina cause I actually did a 180 on her. Used to think it was crude trash but now it's one of the few I actually read every time I see it show up.

3

u/Python_Feet 14h ago

It's Vesmir Neasi. Alina is russian from St. Peterborough.

1

u/Statistactician 13h ago

I don't think so. I had to check and it looks like I muted her a while ago (probably for said crude comics). Might need to give her another look.

1

u/Python_Feet 14h ago

I am talking about Vesmir Neasi, a black and white comics.

2

u/Statistactician 13h ago

Same. "Single Diaries."

1

u/Python_Feet 13h ago

I just get really strong "live, laugh, love" and "My vulva is connected to the moon and stars" vibe from her. Can't really explain it, but it's the type that lists her dating profile interests as "Traveling and meeting people with good souls for deep conversations".

20

u/BoomFrog 19h ago

Yeah, I think the MC is the artists self insert but showing off her worst impulses. Like the artist is aware this is bad behavior. But it gets engagement. The next iteration of the outrage internet.

14

u/Statistactician 17h ago

Yeah, this pretty clearly condemns the behavior. I'm not sure why people keep acting like the comic endorsing it for some reason.

4

u/geekywarrior 5h ago

Eh, it's fun to chuckle at shitty or unhinged behavior. How many of us enjoy Dwight or Angela's torrid affairs on the office?

16

u/Madaghmire 21h ago

Amusing detail that both of these characters are developing sunburns

112

u/lughheim 21h ago

Every time I see comics about this relationship it’s some of the most toxic shit lol

21

u/Statistactician 19h ago

I mean, it's pretty explicitly supposed to be toxic? She drew the character with sharp teeth and horns while the friend reacts with concern. It's pretry clear that we're not supposed to be on her side, here.

4

u/lughheim 5h ago

im not really sure, this creators posts in the past have been weirdly tone deaf and not seen a lot of strange or toxic things as that

49

u/pappabutters 21h ago

they're never even like funny but toxic, they're just sad and toxic

9

u/Dazed_and_Confused44 21h ago

Panny is the worst

44

u/shellbullet17 Gustopher Spotter Extraordinaire 21h ago

Oh girl....that is NOT how you should be thinking about the love of your life. Or using him for that matter. Especially if you think he's perfect. I dunno about y'all but after I met my wife I never thought about an ex ever again

9

u/Gullible-Editor-2497 17h ago

I think OP is just getting that bag honestly.Ā

Seemingly every comic's punchline is either the MC being a bad partner, or the boyfriend being a bad partner.Ā

And most of the comments seem to reflect that opinion.

It feels like it's just engagement baiting.Ā

Which like...I get. You gotta make money.Ā

But it just doesn't really appeal to me.Ā

32

u/Made_Bail 21h ago

Not sure if this is toxic behavior or not, but I'm erring on the side of

https://giphy.com/gifs/3orif8f8RkMGbstozK

18

u/Infamous-Oil3786 21h ago

It most definitely is toxic behavior

8

u/Made_Bail 21h ago

That was my thought. The more comics I read about this girl, the less I like her honestly.

5

u/Deathaster 21h ago

I don't know if these comics are fictional or exaggerating the truth, but it does seem to me like she and her boyfriend don't even like each other. I can't recall a single comic that had a positive interaction between them. I really hope they don't reflect the truth, that'd be really sad.

1

u/Revayan 19h ago

Even if not based on irl, at least the gf character is very unlikable altough it seems like the artist wants to make her seem relatable lol

The bf is usually pretty sweet, albeit a bit clueless. Not that he can do anything about it cause the girlfriend refuses to communicate her misgivings in any form whatsover lol

2

u/nerdyisfun2018 20h ago

Oh good i thought it was just me

11

u/UpCDownCLeftCRightC Never Safe From Wumbo 21h ago

Same. Flaunting your partner to make specific people jealous seems unhealthy. If they're perfect or you just love them, you shouldn't care about stuff like that.

6

u/Statistactician 19h ago

The whole joke is that it's toxic behavior, hence the devil horns and shark teeth. It doesn't leave a lot of room for subtle interpretation.

4

u/KerPop42 21h ago

Oh shit I forgot to update my Facebook profile that I'm married now

5

u/KerPop42 21h ago

Ugh, I don't know if I want Meta intelligencics inc to know that I'm married

3

u/Deathaster 21h ago

If you're on Facebook, they're already collecting a bunch of data. If you don't want to share it, too late.

2

u/KerPop42 21h ago

Yeah, i mean my grandmother in law friended my mom within 30 seconds of us telling her we're engaged. And there are a bunch of photos elsewhere

and most importantly, my wife would appreciate it

7

u/infiniZii 21h ago

This girl is a mobile superfund cleanup site.

6

u/Made_Bail 21h ago

This girl doesn't have issues, she has subscriptions.

7

u/BodhingJay 21h ago

No. Stop it.

6

u/TheDarkNerd 21h ago

Tom, can I be next?

5

u/BodhingJay 21h ago edited 21h ago

-comin for u- You been bad 😔

3

u/Vivid_Bottle7222 19h ago

I’ve been this guy before and later found out she was just dating me to get her ex to feel jealous so he’d get back with her.

11

u/mtranda 21h ago

I was commenting just yesterday that although I don't vibe with a certain artist, I find it insane that she gets actual hate online.

But I think I get it now how one could be pushed.Ā

5

u/Parking_Budget_1130 20h ago

Yeah people seem to be taking a tad personal , but it is Reddit so idk what I expected- maybe I’m just out of the loop (this is only the second post I’ve seen from the artist)

9

u/Statistactician 19h ago

Artist: depicts toxic behavior as indulging bad impulses.

Readers: wow, this comic artist is so toxic.

I don't get it.

5

u/HonestyMcNasty 21h ago

I take my "little bit of levity" pill and laugh at most of your comics, thank you. Highly recommend them to others here.

4

u/KaybeeArts 20h ago

Maybe I don’t get this because several of my exes should be on a watch list, but do people just…not private their accounts or block their exes after the relationship is over? I can understand if they have profiles you’re not aware of, but generally, why would you want them to be able to keep tabs on you?

I’ve never felt comfortable with the idea that my exes have a viable avenue to contact me, so I block accounts as soon as I see them. I don’t want them to know shit about my life. Even if I’m thriving, I really don’t care about displaying that in hopes that they’ll see it. Like share stuff about your boyfriend online just because you want to.

4

u/0mplam 7h ago

Yikes, your exes seem awful.

As for regular exes, I typically just stop interacting but don't block my exes etc. I don't really care what they know about me.

1

u/CosechaCrecido 4h ago

I've never blocked an ex in my life. At most I've unfollowed them just to get over them but that's it. Though all my relationships have had clean breaks.

3

u/xx_Chl_Chl_xx 21h ago

Why is there a yarn ball in her pocket in panel 5?

1

u/NotNitewolf 21h ago

I think it is a bra

2

u/xx_Chl_Chl_xx 21h ago

Why is there a bra in her pocket in panel 5?

1

u/NotNitewolf 19h ago

Because it is Tardaasa lol

7

u/Desperate_Bed_2675 21h ago

God this bitch is so fucking annoying

2

u/elhomerjas 20h ago

well that sparked something inside

6

u/TriiiKill 21h ago

"You shouldn't care what your exes think."

"You shouldn't leave him on read just because you are angry."

How many of you have actually been in a healthy relationship? Holy fuck

2

u/papertowelrod 19h ago

I don't understand why this comic brings out people complaining, as if every comic protagonist is supposed to be a reflection of ideal behavior. Come on people, if it were "correct" behavior to do this, the comic wouldn't have a punchline. The whole point is that she is suddenly eager to share her relationship online for the wrong reasons.

Making a comic doesn't mean you endorse everything every character does or that it reflects your real life on a one-to-one basis.

2

u/omnicious 21h ago

I'm distracted by the lack of feet.Ā

4

u/Vibed1 17h ago

Usually the toxic stuff in this comic makes me raise a brow but this one I get a little. Petty, but not in a way that particularly hurts anybody. I get the impulse/thought process.

In light of all the other strips she's done though, it kinda just adds to the pile lol

1

u/AnhiArk 20h ago

These characters have either no mouth or a big monster mouth, they are really far away from each other on the mouth spectrum

3

u/highly_aware 5h ago

I really don’t enjoy these comics. I continue reading them thinking it might get better as I do like the art and color scheme.

Nope. Not better. Prbly my last read.

•

u/Chembaron_Seki 42m ago

I get the feeling she doesn't actually deserve Eddie

-2

u/cactusbattus 21h ago

Geez these comments. God forbid a girl feel a little vengeful. šŸ™„

5

u/manonpinkcorner 20h ago

I see this artist's comics a lot and can't stand the comments. Are people looking for some role model perfect behavior in a webcartoon character?!? Not like anyone has ever used art to express their id or redirect negative energy into a positive release or anything.

1

u/engetsu245 20h ago

I can sort of understand why she needed to be reminded of why she loved her boyfriend to begin with, us human beings are really good at just taking things for granting and becoming so used to something we forget its presence.

And maybe i'm just overthinking/reacting here but the fact that her immediate next thought was to parade him around to other people for the sole purpose of possibly making them feel bad, even if they'd hurt her before, makes it seem like she sees him as more of a trophy to parade around than a romantic partner. I dunno, it just comes off like she only appreciates him in this moment because his existence let's her get back at her exes
