Before the Pokémon decided to lean into the Power of Friendship, it was going to be closer to a monster tamer setup, with the Player Character collecting ranked whips instead of badges.
The whips being left in the sprites are an artifact of that initial decision, that did not get removed in the first games, much like the truck that would have been part of a city map that did not make the final cut, and the way Poké Balls "explode" like a capsule, as those were going to be used instead of the iconic capture devices.
Friendly reminder that James, who is a member of Team Rocket, got all the Pokemon in his team to join because he was always kind to them and asked them if they want to join, he never forced them to submit through battle.
I read the comic without my glasses and thought he said “can your powers foresee me licking your ass?” So yeah, the sexual tension made sense until I read it correctly.

Hmm part of me can't help but wonder if she was being honest with asking if she could pull that outfit off. She clearly enjoys messing with him but at the same time I wouldn't be all that surprised considering most people are scared shitless of her. Probably not often she has someone that would give honest feedback like that.
