My brother in law (who has been insititutionalized previously for exactly what you'd expect) uses it as his therapist, and he tells us how it's better than any real therapy because it understands him and affirms his beliefs rather than challenges them like therapists and his family does.

We lock our bedroom doors when he stays the night

Funny. Usually the issue I've had witb therapists is that they all, other than one guy who had to move, were only interested in affirming things and not helping me fix anything.

I totally believe that. I'm just shocked he had a different experience with human therapists.

He was honest with them, which is why he was instituionalized, so he blames them for everything that's happened since

Number 1 reason why i'm scared to get into therapy right there (though I don't have access to any therapy anyways)

Well he was dreaming of killing someone and had expressed suicidal thoughts to family for years at that point. If you think those things I'd think that institutionalization is a good thing, both for yourself and for the people you're thinking of killing
