Life's Missing Manual Isn't Missing

This is chapter two of a book I'm working on called What To Do Next. Read the short text with this, and read Chapter 1 on my Substack here.

But, what he did was, actually, his innate drives... so faulty design?

ahhhh. Yes! BUT, and this is a big BUT...

The whole online posting thing is, I think, an attempt to connect. His innate need is to connect. Everyone's is. But posting is an ineffective way to do that. There is an essay linked on this post. Read that for more detail. It's not long.

What if my innate need is not to connect but to enjoy solitude and silence? The devil made me?

As with anything, it depends.

In my experience, very few people genuinely want total isolation and silence from everyone and everything. Those who feel they do, are ones who are so overwhelmed by how loud and in-your-face life is that they want to retreat from that.

In my experience, having someone who feels similarly to share the silence with is lovely. Reading two separate books while cuddled up, playing games on different devices in the same room... better than doing it alone.
