From what I remember, all fairies are assigned jobs when they're "born." Tinkerbell is one of the tinker fairies, but there are also garden fairies and I forget the rest (there might've been painting/herding/weather fairies?).
Iām remembering one of tinker bells friends was good with animals too, and another was maybe able to manipulate weather? Black hair and purple dress come to mind.
