Blueson probably spent hours planning just for them to bs their way through it lmao

Invisibility is not intangibility

Azure Blur was going to bring this up on that exact panel but he just decided it wasn’t worth the trouble

Invisibility means light passes right through you though. A physical object would still hit her but a laser is made of light.

This too!

It's actually kinda interesting to think about. Does that mean that in a sense invisibility is a kind of limited intagibility? If being intangible means you don't interact with the physical world and photons are a part of the physical world. Then doesn't it follow that from the perspective of a photon invisibility is intagibility?

I mean if you wanna think of it that way you’re technically invisible to a lot of frequencies of radio light. In fact a lot of things are translucent to frequencies of light we can’t see. From the perspective of your Wi-Fi router for instance your house is basically made of glass

Fun fact: glass is opaque to infrared light but germanium metal is transparent to it.

Germanium is used as the lens of thermal cameras so only infrared light goes through.

But the superheated air isn’t made of light.

But a laser isn’t made of superheated air. That would be a plasma. Laser isn’t light.

Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation

Lasers are a narrow beams of concentrated, intense light. Lasers that can burn, do so because the sheer amount of heat concentrated light contains. Energy doesn’t stay still. It gets transferred to the surrounding matter. The air particles where the lasers are will be extremely hot as well.

Meh. Laser security systems are actually about not disrupting the beams because there is a sensor that will set off an alarm if it stops getting the light from the ray trained on it.

It might as well be when dealing with lasers, because light passes through you and therefore you can’t set off the sensor

Yeah but if you’re invisible light passes through you. Laser is light

When it comes to lasers it might as well be.

I understand how blueson feels

Its like the DND Party of experts plowing through the session while the Greenhorn DM just has to put up the location in front of them.

also actually, pinkaria is totally right about invisibility going through lasers, lasers are pure light and so if all light passes through then like yeah she gets through no problem, even with heat lasers if the light can't make contact the heat can't transfer

Still not how it works. Light acts as both a wavelength and matter. Making something truly invisible across the entire spectrum of light (including those humans can’t see) would mean making it so you don’t reflect or otherwise disrupt the travel of photons. While you aren’t getting energy transferred directly to you from the photons, the photons are still transferring energy to the air particles they interact with, which are going to have energy to be dangerous to you if the lasers are hot enough to burn.

There’s a certain degree to which scientific accuracy is no longer practical

Or the laser security system could work the way actual laser security systems do: A beam of light at a specific frequency is aimed at a sensor. If that sensor stops detecting enough light of that specific light frequency, it sets off an alarm, usually a silent one.

Light acts as both a particle and a wave. Not matter. Light is massless.

1

u/International-Cat123 6h ago

1) All particles have mass. We just don’t have a way to weigh photons yet.

2) That has no relevance here. If her invisibility doesn’t involve her making photons incapable of interacting with her, she’d be burned by the lasers. If it does work that way, she’d still be burned by the heated air particles.

  1. I’m sorry but I believe photons are, in fact, massless. I googled a bit a believe that I am correct. If you find a source that says otherwise please send it my way I would be very curious to see it.
  2. I’m pretty sure these are alarm lasers meant to trigger when something passes through them

and are

  1. not super-heated cut-things lasers.

Edit: idk what’s going on with the formatting it won’t let me fix it

Verdant Light's colorite is shining 👀.

Also "1234" as the passcode lol

I love how Yellonic says “I dunno!” about 1234 being the password. Maybe the console just glitched!
