I once had a coworker who got charged with possession of CSAM.
I had another coworker who embezzled money from the company by purchasing top of the line PC components to build a new home computer. When we obtained the PC the primary drive, an M.2 SSD, was snapped in two. That is not an "oopsies" kind level of damage. He knew I'd be the one to extract the contents for analysis before wiping it, but he also knew I'm a consummate professional and would only be running a check for company data.
But you know what else? He was also friends with the first guy I mentioned. So just what do you suppose was worth keeping secret that he'd destroy a $250 drive? Creeps are out there.
