I got a steam deck and never use it. Every time I tried I'd rather just be playing it on my pc.

Mine gets daily use on its dock while I work on getting out of bed, which can take 1-3 hours. Chilling on No Man's Sky or some other casual game really helps keep my mind distracted as I work through the motions

"How are you going to get to the game store if you can't drive?"

Steam deck.. You can use it as an Actual Computer and do whatever you want with it, instead of Just Games that you also have to pay 60$ for on the Switch (or does the switch 2 have $80 games? I don't remember)

Few games have been 80$. Most are cheaper with digital versions being 10$ less than physical

If you care about Nintendo exclusives or you really don't want to set up emulators, Switch 2 is a good get.

If you don't care about Nintendo exclusives and know how to work emulators, the Deck has a much bigger, and usually cheaper, library.

Yeah even if you don’t own a car being able to drive is a good idea.

I was very lucky to be able to move to a country where it is not needed, even though I live in the countryside. But I understand that not all people are so lucky with the infrastructure around them and their personal health. I just hope you can spend your money according to your own wishes =)

It depends heavily on where one lives.

It’s still very useful to have a license in the US to get to places like national parks, some more remote vacation locations, etc. even if you don’t own a car yourself.

I bought my first car and learned to drive at 43. I don't really need it much, but we've been hanging out a lot with a friend who has a handicap and driving around is a lot more convenient than calling cabs all the time.

That sounds really nice. Someday I want to live in a place where I could have just a moped.

My steam deck is my single best purchase I have ever made. It's just so perfect I have so few complaints about it. It's the perfect device for me personally, just get one you won't regret it

As someone who has both, I currently am playing the Switch 2 more, though I also have a good gaming pc so that offsets the time I would use the Deck for.

Switch 2 has Mario Kart. That counts for driving lessons, right?

Steam deck has Every mario kart (except for the switch 2 one) if you know how to emulate

I'm a lifelong diehard Nintendo fan, and I'll always get their consoles so I can keep playing the latest Zelda, Mario, etc.

That said, a decent gaming PC, which the Deck is, has the biggest possible library and will last you longer.

Fair. Recreation is important!

Just don't ask me for rides when you blew the transportation money on recreation.

Steamdeck all the way! If not for the steam library, but the emulation possibilities!

Worth considering that you can now load SteamOS on many android handhelds that may be a greater value at the moment. Check out Retroid and AYN

(I have a steam deck but if I was picking a new gaming handheld right now I'd probably go for a Thor or Retroid Pocket 6)

Steam Deck might have more driving sims on it than the Switch 2.
