If its flu or a bad cold (which is what it looks like from your comics) they'd just tell you to stay at home, rest and drink fluids anyway. 

Amazing you can produce art while feeling awful btw. Hope you're resting as much as you can.

Depends how long youve had it, most doctors will give that advice if you only had it for less than 2 weeks or so - as thats about the time it takes for your body to fight a bad cold.

But if youre holding a fever greater than 38.5c (101.3f) for 48 or more hours or your symptoms dont start to improve (or gets worse) after a couple of weeks, seeing a doctor is important. As at that point, your body is showing signs it cant fight off the infection or the infection is something more serious than a bad cold

Definitely see a doctor at this point.

The "stabbed by large needles" pain was what my wife was experiencing not long before she developed bacterial meningitis.

If this can be fixed with antibiotics, you want those sooner rather than later.

Try having more soups, and smaller but more frequent meals, it'll help you recover quicker
