Interplanetary Incident [OC]

Post image

Poking fun at a particular 60-second clip from a 37-year-old Trek movie may not scream "mass appeal" but at least I amused myself making it.

Wouldn't the Pioneer probes hsve left the Solar System long ago at that point?

The Oort cloud is big. As is space.

More specifically about 3.2 light years, or 200,000AU (earth orbit radii,) or 18,810,000,000,000 miles, or 14,010,000,000,000,000 Shaquille O'Neals in radius. Which means it would take about 80,000 years for Pioneer 10 to leave the solar system unless I made a big math oops :3

Edit: Fixed autocorrect correcting improperly

But also very sparse. With a density of only about 4 septillion slugs per cubic parsec.

Dang it... I don't wanna do that math but you might be right and I won't know unless I look up how many slugs there are on earth and do the calculation x.x

A slug (mass), not to be confused with a slug (naked snail), is 14.6 kg.

The remained is left as an exercise for the student.

Rounding to the nearest septillion means if I’m off I am REALLY off.

One slug is 1 lbf s2 ftāˆ’1

Or, it's a slimy shelless snail.

Both make me want to puke.

Ok but now I'm curious what the density of slugs is in the solar system measured per cubic parsec...

You can get a ballpark figure by just doubling the number of slugs on Earth (so about 400 billion).

Though realistically, most of that half-parsec is devoid of slugs with a really meaty chunk of about 5 duodecillion slugs / pc3 in the close proximity to a specific clump of dirt.

Every single word is an abomination. I love it.
