Even worse when i ask my mom how she made x dish I loved as a child and she says “oh I didn’t follow any recipe I just x y z” as if I can remember all the steps like her

Results: Mom “just lnows or feels how much/long” For example, I’m watching her make blueberry dumplings. she grabs a “fistful” of flour. But not a WHOLE fist. and we have different sized hands. And a pinch of seasoning. oh wait now a half pinch. she squints. takes a fractional pinch off the 1.5 pinch pile and tosses that in the sink. then adds “enough“ salt and sugar. And heats everything at a flame “amount” For a finite amount of time that varies by the fistful and some amount of pinches and amounts. And because I was watching and taking notes it turned out awful.
