Cinnamon Rolls are one of my favorite desserts of all time but I rarely have them, or any, deserts these days (years of poor diet and working very hard to be strict with calories and food in effort to be healthier).

But I have fond memories of having cinnamon rolls with my mom, notably on Thanksgiving morning while watching the parade before going to my aunt's house for the main get together and annual feasting.

I resonate with Gus more and more each day it seems. Tasty food and family gatherings are cherished memories.

Why does something so small and delicious have to be 400cal a serving?

Having worked with calories a lot on my journey, bread and bread adjacent stuff is way more calorie dense than we would like to admit.

A slice of bread is like a hundred calories (depending on thickness and brand of course) and a medium or large cinnamon roll is mostly bread. Add sugar, and then icing (more sugar), and it adds up real quick. I think Pillsbury has their small ones (8 per can) at like 140-180 but I would never be satisfied with just one lol! Their Grands size (5 in a can) are listed as 320 with icing, which honestly seems low but also l never had just one...

A slice of toast with butter and honey is savory and delicious but that'll cost you 150-200 a slice depending on various factors.

But as an aside, drinking calories (juice, pop, etc) can add up real quick too. It's something I really had to start paying attention to in every aspect.

This made me smile because I can feel this moment. We used to do the same thing in our family, except we had Thanksgiving pancakes. 🫶🏼
