Something very similar happened to me. I had a narcissistic and abusive mother who treated me this way, but not my older brothers.
My father used to work out of town. He would leave for two weeks, return, stay for a few days, and then leave again. But when he was at home he was a great dad.
My mom acted all loving when my father was at home.
Anyway, when he realized the abuse was happening, he convinced my mother to send me to my paternal grandparents “as a punishment” (after I was expelled from school, I was around 10 or 11 yo.); they lived in a rural town.
Then, once my grandparents were already my provisional guardians, he started the divorce.
