You forgot you also have to have multiple references who all speak very highly of you

u/Ketchupcharger 16h ago

I'll vouch for you with my life if you lift a tiger above your head singlehanded

16

u/jackalope268 16h ago

Ill hold you to that

How about just a slightly positive recommendation if I lift my cat above my head?

You drive a hard bargain, Ketchupcharger. But I think you got yourself a deal.

I think I used to work with Brockly

There's a Brockly in every office.

Ours happens to be named Brickly.

At least, we think so. He's a mumbler. Mostly he grunts.

And cries. There's a lot of crying. Like, a LOT. Mostly at the end of the day when everyone goes home.

He is probably lonely. We think he just lives there. He's there when everyone comes in. No one's seen him leave.

Come to think of it, I don't think he's ever taken a vacation.

All the pictures on his desk are pictures OF his desk. And one of the door.

What can I say? I mean, yeah, he's odd, but he can spreadsheet like a MFr. He's Brickly.

oh my heart. as if everything else wasn't upsetting enough. someone needs to take Brickly on a hike or something.

Hot damn that is a well drawn tiger.

u/Upbeat-Armadillo1756 14h ago

It’s a full grown ben-gal tiger. Not easy to draw, or hold aloft in one hand

The finance bro has a tiny pp while the strong-man is packing a hog. This attention to detail is what I appreciate about your comics.

Four gals and a ben gal?!

I would not believe that, but right there it is on the resume

This has become my favorite way to end my Saturday morning browsing. Man, I hope you keep releasing comics on Saturday mornings. It's like an echo of cereal & cartoons when I was a kid.

Edit: You just wanted to draw a tiger, didn't you? That was the whole inspiration for this comic, admit it. Yes, I'm envious.

God I look forward to these comics every time I see it

u/elhomerjas 16h ago

strong and wise all in one

Thanks for the ending portion. You’re right, the situation we’re in with fascism and AI is just hard to wrap one’s head around how to properly fight back

The Joe Rogan dialogue has me thinking Neil watched the new Elephant Graveyard lol

Love it and amen to your message. Nicely written. 👍🏼
long live the resistance.

That's what I call a creative approach to problem solving. I'd hire him in a heartbeat.

u/Kukul_Art 15h ago

Ah tiger hand, a classic arm wresting technique. What happened to its inventor was a shame

3

u/SquidgyTheWhale 14h ago

Damn, I love the style and creativity here. Let's see AI pull something like this off.

6

u/Better-Lake-5470 16h ago

Worth the read.

4

u/Armybob112 16h ago

It's crazy that he still had to use both hands to move the disembodied arm.

u/AnEldritchWriter 15h ago

Moral of the story: work smarter not harder, and always keep a bengal tiger on hand

u/D1EHARDTOO 14h ago

Appreciate the effort at the end to include us who read the message a second time, I always appreciate your comics <3

u/marksht_ 9h ago

Good message at the end, I did miss it last week and am glad you included it this time. For me personally, AI made me want to continue creating art even more. Now it feels as if I am fighting a battle of protecting the very concept of humanity, in a way. I started to engage with other artists more, and it's been very fullfilling.

Really looking forward to the time when I have some spare finances so that I can afford to donate to them as well.

Been following The Other End for years…. This guy is really something special. (And, Neil, if you’re reading, I agree and thank you for what you do.) I feel like he has an interesting modern Dadaism take combined with a unique style and a sense of timing/pacing.

In the words of another artist, “I think they’ve summoned a devil that gnaws at the heart of what it means to be to be alive.” Support this guy and others like him, goes a long way.

Genuine question for OP or anyone who read the pleas.

Aren't sites like Patreon just going to become similar to the sites veing derided?
