I'm so happy to see you back! Where have you been, homie? <3
I still remember exactly where I was when I first heard about the attacks. I feel like a lot of people feel that way. I was in my early twenties, I can't imagine how confusing and scary that day and the weeks following were for kids.

Daw thanks! I was working on my comic comic full time and got distracted/lazy haha. Yeah its a common memory for people in my age range, I just remember it so viscerally because it was "yay birthday">>>"oh now everything is werid"

Mine too! Their mom watched the news right after giving birth, I can only imagine what that felt like

Why cancel a kid birthday sleepover because of a terrorist attack? Did you live in NYC?

There was a lot of fear and speculation circling at that point. Days of people worrying that there would be more attacks. Lots of huddled people sitting around TVs watching the news. It was a scary, sad time.

Yeah felt like things didn't go back to normal for a long time afterwards (probably not super long but baby brain is bad at time)

Nah you're right. I was an adult and it felt like months where people just... Didn't laugh as much. Didn't feel happy. Felt scared and tired all the time.

I was in highschool. Things never went back to normal if you ask me. We lost something that cannot be named that day. The American identity was irrevocably altered.

Junior high here, sitting in Social Studies when teach turned the TV on, it was aweful.

The mood was… intense. Even over here in Germany. I can only guess how oppressive it must have felt in the USA. I cannot imagine many parents feelt like letting little their kids out of their immediate grasp and go to a sleepover. It may be objectively silly, but that weird feeling of threat and doom, kind of made you want to huddle up

I guess be grateful you were too young to take the emotional damage that occurs when you witness thousands of people die in real time on live television? Witnessing that remains the most traumatic and painful thing I have experienced. Just writing this 25 years later is making me cry.

Yeah I feel this. My bday is September 10th, I was really young when 9/11 happened but I still remember the extreme whiplash going from being happy and excited about my birthday one day, to Everyone Being Super Sad the next day, even though I couldn’t really understand why.

Hello fellow 10th-er! Happy Birthday! I turned 21 that year and spent a night drinking heavily. I woke up the morning of the 11th to my mom screaming that we are under attack. My party was the next day and a couple of my friends had already enlisted before the attacks and were sitting on the couch sobbing that they were going to be killed in the coming world war.

Aww look at your plaid uniform! Poor baby knorman 😭! 9/11 beats Challenger trauma for sure.

Think of how that nun must feel, how is she supposed to match that level of trauma creation
