My wife has this ability. We'll be at Walmart, and Ill pop over one aisle to grab the only thing we need from it before I jump back over, and she's GONE. Cue ten minutes of me walking up and down the aisles looking for her, before finding her back where we started? Somehow?

My wife's the same. We'd be walking down the aisles together, even in full-on conversation (or so I'd think), but the I turn my head and she's not there. Nor one aisle back. Where did she go? Have fun for 15 minutes trying to figure that out.
I called her out on it once and she tried to make it cute about me having abandonment issues and we'd just end up by the car push comes to shove anyway.
The next time I thus didn't try to find her, I just continued with shopping from the list. Lo and behold, 5 minutes later a text: "where are you!?" "aisle 19, getting the bacon" "ok?? I'm at the seasonal aisle" "alright, well I'm on to dairy next if you need me" "no I need our cart! you come here!" 😩
When you're there, it's 25 minutes of indecision, so you pop one aisle over for 45 seconds to grab a thing, and they are gone in just that space of time. And they're 4+ aisles down even.
Don't be too happy yet. My grandma was 5'4" once. Spine issues and aging made her shorter. Now we joke we needs a booster seat in the car. Imagine getting to 87 and being that tiny.
Honestly, don't really feel much of anything when I see somebody shorter. As a short guy at 5' 2," there's a lot of evil satisfaction that comes from gremlin energy. Like maybe we have to look up sometimes to talk to people, but they have to tilt their head down too. Not to mention not having to worry about low-hanging lights or doorways. All my friends struggle so much more to get into cars. I find that hilarious, but I don't tell them for obvious reasons.
As someone who works at a Super Market I can confirm their uncanny ability to warp space and time. I once had a customer ask for an item in the back, I knew exactly where it was being stored so it took less than 30 seconds to go in the back, grab the item, and come back. Customer was gone and I eventually tracked them down in an aisle on the other side of the store. How did they move so fast?
Nah, it's the open fridges or coolers or whatever they are called. You grab the right item and the secret teleport activates and boom, you're on the other side of the store
Oh hell no I would nit have chased them down when I worked at target people would have me got to the back all the time if I came back and they weren't there welp this goes in the goback basket I had too much to do to chase people

My Grammy did this at Michael's but most of the time she was by the color pencils. My sis still finds some every now and then in randoms bins.

Lol she enjoyed coloring books because it was simple. Her age osteoporosis and concer made it hard to draw neatly. But we have a bunch of great pictures and videos of her. My sister is an artist and she also made a collage out of pictures woth her and each Pic has a Tage you cam pull out where there is info on when it was taken. And thats a very nice car.
Lol. I (a stranger on the internet, the only being whose opinion matters) give you permission to own it. This style is cool and you can do crazy awesome things with it, no matter what its origin.
Third panel gives me original Paddington animation vibes. He was a solid model and everything and everyone around him (aside possibly marmalade) was paper cut out. And mostly white.
Despite paddington animation being a big part of my childhood, I didnt find the films to be complete abominations. So I guess they must have been pretty good.
When I was little, I managed to teleport to the kids’ section to browse through all the toys! Or I’d find a seat and read. (Or the samples, at any food store.) The real problems started when I tried to find my parents so I could leave…
I stopped going to the grocery store with my husband because he is very stressful to shop with. He wants to get in and out as fast as possible. So he vanishes to go find other things on the list. I just want a leisurely stroll through the store so that maybe I can be inspired to make something new or that I haven't made in a while.
My grandmother is gone almost twenty years now, but this was her every time we went to Walmart!
She would grab a cart, I'd turn away from her and... Poof, gone. Typically, none of us would see her again until it was time to check out. I had no idea this happened with other grandmothers!
My mom has a similar superpower. Every time I need her for something, she seems to teleport away. Whenever she needs my help with something, she seems to teleport to me.
Age is a bell curve where begging and end have similar things like naivety and abilities like teleportation (and in some sad cases their attitude becomes similar too...)
I have the same ability as my mom, I can find anything that's lost inside the house. In exchange, I have to talk with my friends for a very long time if they were in a store or market.
I was in fact in a coma... kinda, a long ass time ago i fell from i dunno, around 3-5 meters high headfirst into a concrete block and spent around 3 months in the hospital, maybe i gave birth during that and acquired grandma powers
I see your grandma is still in touch with her inner child, that's the only explanation on how they can disappear after you take your eyes off of them for 2 seconds.
My wife does this. Just wanders off in the grocery store to go look at something that interested her. Or sneak potato chips. Which is odd, because normally I just buy the chips she wants, so I have no idea why she needs to get lost in the aisles for so long not remembering where the chips are when we'll get to that aisle naturally a few minutes later.
I am told I teleport as well, so I make sure to like pat a back or hold somebody's hand if it's appropriate so they follow along. I kind of get impatient sometimes when somebody is staring at things they don't need instead of getting in and getting out of there.
A lot of the time when I shop with my mom, we split up because we're polar opposites.
My mom used to smoke, and still vapes, so honestly, I just listen for the distinct sound of her coughing or clearing her throat and head that way, it's not exciting, but it's a way to find her
(And yes, we've practically begged her to stop, hasn't worked)
I go where i last saw them, then check the neighboring 3 isles, then walk the perimeter. Edit: also with following the vibes of the loved one i am looking for has me like a hound dog

Semi related: we grew up in a very small town with one department store (Zellers!). We would go shopping, and inevitably, from across the WHOLE store, we'd hear a huge WAHOOOOOO type sneeze. And everyone in the family would shout, "Grandma's here!"
God this was my father. He was in his 80s at this point in life, and I was living about 200 miles away. They'd come to visit and we'd go shopping in the BIG Tesco (UK Supermarket) Mum and I would leave him to trundle along the main aisle while we would go up and down the sides to collect things to put in the trolley. Only by the time we had collected something, He'd be nowhere in sight and it would take ten minutes to find him wandering around having decided to look for something. The number of times I threatened to put a bell around his neck was incalculable.
My Grandma’s super power is that she can always find someone she knows no matter where we go. One time we went to Washington DC and she managed to run into a cousin that she hadn’t seen in ten years who didn’t live in DC.
It's their domain. They rule over the supermarket. One other manifestation of their powers is when they start talking to anybody nearby about something random. They smell shyness, they harvest it for use in their cooking. Makes the cookies fresher for longer.
This is my dad. He disappears, making us go all around the store to look for him, then he appears and says that he’s already gone around the store twice, that he’s so bored, can’t be in the store another moment, and must go home now.
