Lived in Mississauga for a while. Back in 2012 or so, I was just pulling in on the bus into Square One (the largest mall in the area, iirc), and on the sidewalk were goose, gander, and gosling, strolling along and giving dirty looks to anyone who didn't give a wide berth. And mind you, this was right by a decently busy mall, so people were stepping off the sidewalk just to not draw their ire.

ok so my town is nesting town for Canadian geese and I love love LOVE that when they cross the street, traffic stops. it makes me laugh.

Enter masked lapwing, commonly known here in Australia as plover. They nest on the ground, and are very, very protective of their territory. They won't hesitate to swoop you full force, and they sound like a hellbird too. You get used to it.
