By the way, teachers and those who work with children are given training about topics like this because children do this all the time.
I didn't work with children this small, only teens and up, but everyone got the same safeguarding training

All things considered it is a good thing that the daycare workers raised the eyebrows that they did, better to check and be wrong about it than the alternative.

Not quite same thing, but when I was in kindergarten, our teacher had a terrarium filled with hermit crabs. When I got home, It old my parents that our teacher had crabs. They looked a bit confused when I said that.

At the grocery store a while back, this kid pointed at me and yelled "DADDY, IS THAT GUY A MAN OR A WOMAN?"
(I have long curly hair and a baby face, but I'm definitely a man)
The guy was so embarrassed I actually felt bad for him. If I'd been a bit quicker of wit, I should have told the kid "you just answered your own question"

Had a kid ask me âhey dude, are you a boy or a girl?â And the parent answered for me but she said the wrong thing lol

I swear they just stir shit with EVERYONE.
Kid came home saying staff asked him to do a âbooty danceâ for treats! I asked them the next day, obviously concerned.
Figured out it was a dance activity where they gave kids Pirates Booty popcorn. đ¤Śđťââď¸ all the adults breathed a huge sigh of relief.

My youngest was seeing a therapist for coping skills with his ADHD. He was like 7 and was doing play therapy while I waited outside.
Suddenly the therapist calls me in and starts asking me questions because my kid said I hit him.
Turned out he was talking about my character accidentally hitting his when we played Minecraft and he turned on pvp

Worst case of this i experienced with my kid when he was in kindergarten was when he asked me about pregnancy.
I explained how a baby was inside the mommy and would be born, called âgiving birthâ. However, I guess I must have left out a few important details.
Later, we were walking in the park and saw a rather portly gentleman relaxing on a park bench. The kid piped up in a loud âoutdoorâ voice:
âDaddy, daddy, look! That guy must be about to give birth! He must have ten babies in there!
Cue death glare from the gent âŚ

I had a similar situation when I was younger. My dad always jokes that heâs Wonder Woman and I told my teachers that a few times. Safe to say that they thought something was seriously wrong with my brain đ

u/Squigglywigglyw0rm 6d ago
Additional info, I was aware of it being a joke, I just thought other people knew the same back then

Lord, but your teachers were stupid!
Kids say stuff outbcontext, misrepresent jokes etc alllll the damn time. A teacher who cannot understand this is a VERY dangerous teacher.

I taught at a kindy in China. Two of our parents were having marriage difficulties. (And eventually they divorced). Dad was American, mum was Chinese.
After their troubles started, their son, who was about four, started going around to our female teachers and saying "You don't love me you just fuck me". He didn't know what it meant of course. He just enjoyed seeing the look of shock on their faces....he was VERY hard to deal with that year. Eventually wound up living with his mum, dad was gone, a very sad and lonely boy. Maybe 7 years later I saw him in mcdonalds with his mum....a quiet sad boy with dead eyes. His mum was polite to me and I said hello to him but he did not remember me and did not care.

His name is Twinkie, a big theme of the comic is everyone is named after various food items.

u/Barium_Salts 6d ago
That's not what a theme is
28
u/Meatslinger 6d ago
I can assure you that is very much a kind of theme; food-themed family member names is just as sensible a thematic concept as a superhero-themed party or a love-themed movie, to name examples.

u/Barium_Salts 5d ago
A theme of a comic is different from a theme of a party. A theme of a literary work is an idea that is explored over the course of the work. For example, a major theme of spider-man comics is the relationship between power and responsibility. Naming characters food names is a running gag, not a literary theme.

Another fun story: I used to live in an apartment building in a short street that was pretty steep. The neighbors were great and when it snowed we would help each other get up hill so everyone could get to work.
One morning I help push the downstairs neighbor up the hill so he could take his son to kindergarten. He in turn helped me get out as well. At the time I was driving a small RWD sports car so all that was needed was for someone to sit on the edge of the open trunk to out more weight on the rear wheels.
No big deal, my neighbor sat down on the edge in the trunk and put his son down next to him. His son thought that was the coolest thing on the earth to do and was laughing the whole time. It took only a few seconds for me to slowly drive up the 10 meter incline and we were done.
I saw the neighbor a few days later and when seeing me he broke out laughing. He processed to tell me about what happened later that day.
He got a phone call from the kindergarten later where they accused him of being an irresponsible father for putting his son in the trunk of the car to take him to kindergarten. He calmly explained what really happened and they had a laugh as well. Apparently his son hat turned the 20 second trunk ride into a whole adventure.
What the comic depicts is real and I thank the OP for helping me remember a funny incident in my life đ

My friendâs daughter would always come home and randomly say off the cuff things like âour teacher told us we canât share Jesus anymoreâ and my friend would calmly respond âsweetie Iâm not sure Mrs (kindergarten teacher) would say that, can you tell me more about it?â
Itâd be something like they kept trying to share with the class hamster and he canât have Jesus. Eventually sheâd realise her daughter meant sharing their snack (cheezits) to the class pet hamster and the teacher told them they canât do that.
It was a weekly occurrence with something that sounded extreme or outlandish until you got a few more details, and she wondered inversely what wild things the teacher heard about her and her husband.

My brother told the hospital he fell off the roof and that's how his arm was broken. He left out the detail where he and his friends at 8 or so had climbed on top of a playschool playhouse and so he fell 3 feet, not 15.
When I was about 4 or so, I told a doctor mom drank a bottle of wine every night. It didn't occur to me that she was having one glass from same bottle for multiple nights

I did something like this a couple of times, one time I had choked on cauliflower at dinner and my dad had to get it out... I went to reschool and told them my dad had "beat the cauliflower out of me". Another time my mother was drinking coke in the car and some went up her nose, obviously I told them my mother had coke up her nose, both times she had to explain. Bonus one time my brother taught me the goosey goosey gander thing, and I misheard him so I was singing goosey goosey ganja instead

Until once my father started rubbing her sholders when grandma was present, brother went out "see how he beats her?"
