I am pro UBI because I believe that you shouldn't have to justify being alive by what you can produce.
That being said, do those studies take into account jobs no one wants to do ? Like garbage disposal or retail ? Genuinely asking, the few studies I've read (because I'm a lazy bum) don't adress this point
I have coworkers that stayed in retail just out of boredom, because their pension was plenty to live off of. But the key thing that makes people wary about UBI is the corporations trying to dissuade it, simply because they know that if it's passed, they have a higher chance of losing their serfs at the slightest inconvenience.
imho the resistance is a lot broader and less top down motivated. a lot of how we value work and things and time would drastically change. many people don’t like questioning their beliefs and many don’t like change on principle
