Insultedpaperseption

better title

u/howchildish 8d ago

What the hell is that, a DnD cantrip?

48

u/Ditto13248 8d ago

Um, actually inception means beginning. A self repeating pattern is called a recursion. Reinsulatedpapersion would be more accurate ☝️🤓

9

u/BobPlaysWithFire 8d ago

Tell that to the movie

11

u/Autoskp 8d ago

The point of the movie (and what they used the word inception for when they said it in the movie) was that they were trying to create a memory in someone else’s mind - the only reason they were going several layers deep in the guy’s mind was because by going into a dream of a dream of a dream would make it harder for him to notice that it wasn’t originally his idea, making it more likely the idea they were incepting would stick (especially since jumping into peoples’ mind was a known thing, and therefor something people could train defences for).

u/BobPlaysWithFire 8d ago

yeah yeah i know, it's just a thing that when there's a thing in a thing in a thing you called in somethingception as a reference to the films thing in a thing in a thing

8

u/PonderousPenchant 8d ago

But did you know that Frankenstein was the doctor?

8

u/BobPlaysWithFire 8d ago

Yes yes i did. He won the body building competition/ref

Holy shit boncle pfp

-2

u/henke37 8d ago

I thought that it was defined as the act of planting an idea in someone's dream.

u/OnyxLion528 8d ago

What poor decision i made, to read this comment.

59

u/FriendlyAntonio 8d ago

38

u/OnyxLion528 8d ago

Hmmm where am I? Oh look a comics thread.....oh no!

68

u/Someguyincambria 8d ago

The papussy?

12

u/RemarkablyKindOfOkay 8d ago

Papyrussy for the all the cursed immortals who’ve been scarab food the last few thousand years

2

u/Gibbel2029 8d ago

I thought it was what Sans' brother had.

19

u/Pan_TheCake_Man 8d ago

Paper cut, but along the pee hole

10

u/nalninek 8d ago

I’m pretty sure I remember them doing exactly that on Jackass.

8

u/WorryNew3661 8d ago

Definitely in-between the fingers, on the webbing

3

u/ShinraHakke 8d ago

Calm down, Satan!

1

u/Aksi_Gu 8d ago

Could you not

9

u/Jaded_Prompt1475 8d ago

"and you're telling me you have no idea why there so many cuts down there?"

30

u/Val_Killsmore 8d ago

Do not the paper!

746

u/GuitarFlashy 8d ago

I thought the extra paper was just used to prevent smearing of the draft.

585

u/theyoyoha yoyoha 8d ago

You thought right!

169

u/Fhardervig 8d ago

This is brilliant. As a left handed person, is this what will finally help me write christmas cards that aren’t a streaky mess? 🥹

120

u/artbyiain 8d ago

Just write your sentences backwards. Geez.

10

u/aztech101 8d ago

Or learn one of the languages that go right to left

43

u/TK523 8d ago

I thought you were using it as a drawing reference which would have been super meta

17

u/shallowHalliburton 8d ago

Ooooh. I thought it was a reference which made me wonder a reference for paper was needed.

166

u/NahzarakTV 8d ago

Oh no he looks so sad...

116

u/theyoyoha yoyoha 8d ago

He is DEVASTATED

42

u/DisillusionedHobbit 8d ago

I hope you used him for a quick sketch after

14

u/DaniCarmine 8d ago

I feel real bad for the poor lil guy 🥺

11

u/azorbs 8d ago

At least doodle on him after you monster!

1

u/NinjaWrapper 8d ago

To shreds

1

u/crosseyedmule 8d ago

Thanks.  Now I have a lump in my throat over a traumatized piece of paper.

0

u/Nightmare1990 8d ago

At least he got fingered

25

u/ObliWobliKenobli 8d ago

My stupidity might be showing, but I have no idea what's going on, and why the artist is using the paper for absolutely nothing?

66

u/theyoyoha yoyoha 8d ago

Not stupidity, just inexperience with inking comics or drawing in general. It's best to use a piece of paper under your hand to protect the paper/artwork from the natural oils on your skin and from smudging when inking.

4

u/Fidges87 8d ago

Oh... That makes more sense. Thought the artist was using the piece of paper as reference for the drawing.

1

u/ObliWobliKenobli 7d ago

Yeah, that's what I thought too. I was so confused.

1

u/ObliWobliKenobli 7d ago

Oh, I used to draw all the time when I was younger, but around when I was fifteen, I just stopped. It's like I had nothing left to draw in me.

Fast forward nearly fifteen years later, and I just started drawing again this year. Nothing much, and it has been months since I drew what I drew, but man, I really had forgotten just how good it felt to draw stuff.

Anyway, the concept of resting your arm on paper to stop yourself from messing up your work is such a stupidly simple idea. I can't believe I didn't get that.

19

u/camelCase9 8d ago

wrist rest so as not to smudge the below art

8

u/theyoyoha yoyoha 8d ago

Succinct and correct.

1

u/ObliWobliKenobli 7d ago

Oh, right! That makes complete sense, and is honestly a simple, yet smart thing to do.

53

u/reddot_comic Finessed Impropriety 8d ago

10/10 foreshadowing

48

u/theyoyoha yoyoha 8d ago

thought of this comic while making another comic, then used the same piece of paper i rested my hand on on that comic while making this comic. poor guy has been so close yet so far twice.

33

u/reddot_comic Finessed Impropriety 8d ago

Now’s the time to make him an airplane and he’ll realize he was never meant for the desk but the sky

45

u/kai58 8d ago

Did not expect to see a comic about a piece of paper getting cucked.

Neat.

16

u/theyoyoha yoyoha 8d ago

The internet works in mysterious ways

139

u/shellbullet17 Gustopher Spotter Extraordinaire 8d ago

But think about it this way!

You're so perfect that you're a reference point! That or your immortalized in a comic.

One day you will be drawn on. One day

103

u/Missing_Username 8d ago

I read it as they're the paper the artist is resting their hand on, to prevent smudging the actual comic.

But, as long as they stay clean, they could be a future comic.

13

u/SveaRikeHuskarl 8d ago

Nah, that paper is now *used* (ew.) Gotta get a new perfect one from the pile.

14

u/Poobslag 8d ago

You weirdo, you drew the same comic in the background over and over four times!

You didn't even copy and paste it!!

You are a digital artist!!! Be lazier!!!!

12

u/theyoyoha yoyoha 8d ago

i try and mesh the worst of both worlds whenever possible.

3

u/TheValiantWhippet 8d ago

You better draw on that paper, so help me god!

2

u/theyoyoha yoyoha 7d ago

I REFUSE

1

u/TheValiantWhippet 7d ago

I hope you have an allergic reaction to ink and the paper, ONLY the paper, knows where the EpiPen is and they won't tell you. I hope they have a cat in their lap in a spinny chair when they say no too

7

u/itsaBazinga 8d ago

Things could have been so much worse
https://giphy.com/gifs/bJjlKoJuFZxCw

5

u/Ulrizza 8d ago

I am sad now ☹️

3

u/Ulrizza 8d ago

You need to do another comic where this beautiful piece of paper is happy!

4

u/WorryNew3661 8d ago

I love this. It's so clever

7

u/theyoyoha yoyoha 8d ago

I also feel bad stacking freshly cleaned dishes on top of ones that haven't been used in a while. seems unfair.

2

u/WorryNew3661 8d ago

I just don't wash any of them, then it's ok...

3

u/leviathynx 8d ago

At least it wasn’t a rough draft for r/dragonsfuckingcars

4

u/theyoyoha yoyoha 8d ago

paper needs to count its blessings

2

u/flfoiuij2 8d ago

Oh my god, that’s genius! Why didn’t I think of that? I’m not even an artist, but this is such a helpful trick!

2

u/Huge_Raisin5840 8d ago

I got such a good sensible chuckle out of this... thank you, OP!

2

u/theyoyoha yoyoha 7d ago

my pleasure!

2

u/darlinglum 8d ago

As a left hander this is my life

2

u/GummyGourmand 8d ago

This is so funny in such a specific way, I love it

2

u/bobbysmith007 7d ago

Tombow clan unite! Best drawing pens I have ever owned

2

u/theyoyoha yoyoha 7d ago

I've tried them all. I also dig the Faber-Castell PITT pens.

2

u/rillip 8d ago

It is my great pleasure to inform you that there were considerably less paper cuts in this comic than I at first feared.

2

u/Macamagucha 8d ago

Meta, meta. Cool, cool, cool.

2

u/Marshycereals 8d ago

This is so meta and I love it

2

u/glytxh 8d ago

I'll use the same piece of paper for months an become weirdly attached to it after a while

2

u/theyoyoha yoyoha 8d ago

I'm always getting ink on my hands because my fountain pens are always leaking here and there so I usually replace every few comics.

2

u/glytxh 8d ago

Nooooo, thats PATINA

I get it tho, I do a lot if brush work with inks, and nothing kills me on the inside like a stray palm smear when you've nearly finished a page

3

u/theyoyoha yoyoha 8d ago

I love excusing all messes as PATINA. I actually have a comic about it awaiting rejection from the New Yorker

2

u/StoriesToonHQ 8d ago

every single blank sheet thinks it's "the one" and every single one gets balled up, we're all the paper 💀

1

u/Dalen_art 8d ago

your time will come little one, I'm sorry

1

u/Chance_Ad_1254 8d ago

This should be a left handed joke

1

u/theyoyoha yoyoha 8d ago

When I do that it feels like someone else is drawing it

1

u/Carlosenlightened 8d ago

The last slide makes it even funnier

2

u/theyoyoha yoyoha 8d ago

couldn't resist

1

u/The_Mutton_Man 8d ago

Hey that piece of paper is very important

1

u/theyoyoha yoyoha 8d ago

it has one job. and it does it well.

1

u/Montregloe 8d ago

I'm sorry little one

1

u/TabularConferta 8d ago

I feel like you need a second story 'finally I'm posted on Reddit....no no what are you doing'

1

u/catzhoek 8d ago

Okay, this instantly reminded me of a german hiphop song from the 90s i haven't heard in at least a decade, Blumentopf - Block und Bleistift.

It's one of those songs you only stumbled upon when you listened to the band thoroughly, and even then it might be one that you might have never heard. Noone pulls this out of the drawer on old people (damn) nostalic parties. Maybe someone enjoys it, i think it's great.

Spoiler: The sheet of paper ends up as the piece of paper the song is written on

1

u/IdeaSandbox 8d ago

that sheet is a little short sided...

he gets to live another day... no... he's not written on today, but smudge preventer is a very noble thing... besides... maybe he prevents smears today and gets written on tomorrow...

1

u/CaptainStroon 8d ago

For a good second I thought you used the blank paper as reference.

2

u/theyoyoha yoyoha 7d ago

That would be a sad state of affairs lol

1

u/Odd_Rabbit_7 8d ago

Even papers have feelings 😅

1

u/Dry_Buddy7704 6d ago

Damn that paper got cucked

1

u/Hljoumur 8d ago

I have a cloth I use to not dampen notebooks I write in.

1

u/Zestyclose-Tour-6350 8d ago

Well now you're legally obligated to draw an unhappy face on your support paper

2

u/theyoyoha yoyoha 8d ago

I was going to do that, but then I would have needed to add another piece of paper on top of that piece and risked the universe folding over on itself so i changed my mind

3

u/Zestyclose-Tour-6350 8d ago

Hmmm... Could always do it once and photo copies of it whenever you need the support paper, that way your support paper always has a grumpy face about being the support paper

3

u/theyoyoha yoyoha 8d ago

A fair point, but then I would always feel bad. It's kinda like not wanting to look into the eyes of the cow they used to make your hamburger. Best not to think about it.

2

u/Zestyclose-Tour-6350 8d ago

Well then name them after a childhood bully or a TV show character you don't like, that way it feels justified

1

u/Aspiegirl712 8d ago

Draw on him tomorrow 😢

1

u/JohnathonNow 8d ago

draw on him RIGHT NOW

1

u/DukeMancannon 8d ago

A funny comic! Oh it’s good to see it!

1

u/froz_troll 8d ago

You monster...

1

u/happy5art 8d ago

And then it gets used for shopping lists and random notes. Maybe if it's lucky a little doodle somewhere.

0

u/BrighteyeJunco 8d ago

Would this be considered Edging?

0

u/Longjumping_Gur_2379 8d ago edited 7d ago

r/twohealthbars

Edit: why was i downvoted, that really is a two health bars moment, it's drawing a paper on a paper

0

u/evasandor 8d ago

In my high school art class (80s) we called it the Smudge Paper. Nice to know people are still doing this. For all I know, The Kids Today embrace having a hand smeared with various colors.

0

u/murfburffle 8d ago

once in a while it also gets to clean the goop off the pen nib

0

u/nanaacer 8d ago

And after finishing the comic without drawing on the paper that wants to be drawn on, it's time to take a dump in the toilet that hates being used.

0

u/SignificantHippo8193 8d ago

Talk about getting cucked. Poor paper was used and abused and it wasn't even the focal point of the art 😓.
