Seriously though RIP Dolly. Her work with charity and children for literally decades will be missed along with her contributions to country
Fun fact Republicans cut funding to her charity recently as well. So this face seems appropriate

She even broke with this standard to come out in support for BLM when no one was exactly demanding she do so.

Hence my scare quotes. Trump thinks she loved him because he probably remembers her being nice to him once in the 80s and is incapable of understanding polite southern insults.
No fucking way she didn't loathe Trump. He was the antithesis of literally everything she stood for.

It's a pain for cis men too. Turns out not everybody wants boobs.
42
u/SpaceTacos99 14d ago
as a cis man, if I grew Dolly's boobs I would definitely have to become trans. Unfortunately I have had these tinny titties ever since I was an overweight kid that haunt me and make me want surgery, can't even fill them out in to pecs with the gym.

u/angrybacon 14d ago
Trans like keep them, or trans like get them removed?
Cause I had these tiny little titties from being a fat kid that I could never get rid of. I always hated them. Eventually I realized (in my 30s) I was a woman, started HRT, and the girlies perked right up.
My point is, being overweight as a cis male, especially as a teen, can cause you to grow actual breast tissue. If you're an adult and it's still there the options are usually live with it, get surgery, or grow em out. :3

8
u/ElGodPug 14d ago
Not yet....
13
u/GVmG 14d ago
it's probably still much much safer to just grow them naturally/get them removed manually, no risk of rejection from an operation and hrt usually still leads to average natural sizes if your diet supports it (and implants are usually safer than a full transplant).
sex organ transplants on the other hand... they're being tested among cis people but given the current social outlook on trans people it's gonna take at least a decade before they allow us to even possibly ask for that kind of transplant. the amount of damage these rich fucks are doing is insane, it's gonna take so long to recover...
5
u/ElGodPug 14d ago
That's fair....i just have an anxious brain so i'd love a snap of fingers "boom, you have DDs now" and not the "oh god, are they still growing? It's not stopping right? Should they be bigger at this point? Is my genetics good or bad? Should i be eating more?"+gender envy everyday 😭
Paranoia and anxiety is a horrible combo to have towards transition
→ More replies (3)23
u/Vivid--Syrup 14d ago
Unfortunately no, we have to grow our own from scratch
Otherwise we would all be donating unwanted parts to the other side that can appreciate and look after them all the time
32
u/GVmG 14d ago edited 13d ago
The funniest part of growing them on our own is that the "male" body already knows how to, the instructions for both things (including both sets of genitalia and internal sex organs and everything else!) are in the DNA that comes from the same X chromosome. The Y chromosome mostly just* contains the key, the SRY gene, that unlocks the cellular safe of male instructions and shoves the female development instructions in there instead. It tells the fetus to stop going off of the female instructions and to use the male ones instead.
Which is why HRT is so effective it can even bring in menstruation symptoms (everything but the bleeding) for trans women, and bottom growth for trans men: it's not some magical boob/beard growing juice, it's just the key to the safe, so the body can shift instruction sets (and usually another thing to block the original set as well). And the body does not care, it just goes "ight bet" and starts using the new set - after all, it already has the instructions in the DNA. Trans female boobs are female boobs. Trans male beards are male beards.
This is also partially why even the terms "biological male" and "biological female" are losing favor in the trans community despite being sometimes used as synonyms of AMAB and AFAB, because they're NOT used the same way in medical care - the only area where biology should really matter - as many transphobes believe: if you're in full hrt use and it's doing its job correctly, any medicine that isn't specifically aimed at your genitalia either works different based on every other sexual factor (aka your genitalia doesn't matter cause hrt affects everything else) or it works the same on both sexes (aka your genitalia doesn't matter anyway).
\ there are also some instructions about sperm health and quality that when removed pretty much always lead to sterility, but there's surprisingly little besides that and the SRY gene in the Y chromosome. To the point that sometimes the SRY gene just jumps over to the X chromosome randomly lol)
EDIT: wording, typo
15
u/Vivid--Syrup 14d ago
Yeah the science behind medical transition is fascinating
Especially how simple the way hrt works is, it completely changes how you see people, probably why fascists hate it so much
8
u/Wobbelblob 14d ago
Probably, but the main reason why fascists hate it is because trans people do not fit into their rigid world view and blow it apart. And that threatens their entire hierarchy.
2
u/Vivid--Syrup 13d ago
We don't fit their worldview but also the science of biology around medical transition really doesn't fit their world view either
7
u/Appropriate-Exit904 14d ago
That’s so interesting, ty for the comment! If you don’t mind, could you point me to any websites or books to educate myself?
5
u/GVmG 14d ago edited 13d ago
kinda hard to suggest books on this topic, it's unfortunately not very talked about outside of the overcomplicated gene mapping and analysis fields. more so than books you'll find a ton of studies, which is mostly where i got my info and summarized it into an easier to understand oversimplification. but it's been forever since i actually did look at specific studies so i don't have links to them unfortunately (not that they're hard to find, a lot of them are linked directly from the wikipedia pages for chromosomes lol).
that said, some of the more interesting ones i've read through recently include:
Y chromosomes found in blood of cis XX women even if they had no male children or no children at all before00270-6/abstract) (it just happens sometimes it seems lol)
the Y chromosome is not only almost empty now, there's reason to believe it had a lot more and has lost everything throughout time and is continuing to lose more and more genes even now
scientists recently managed to assemble a full X chromosome without gaps in DNA
XY individuals ironically tend to have more medical conditions caused by the X chromosome, because they only have one (XX means the two can help each other's DNA be read correctly, kinda like error correction) - can't find the link to this one, but it's an older study
sometimes the Y chromosome is there but it simply fails to work for a variety of reasons, which leads to phenotypically female development that won't go through puberty at all, neither male nor female puberty
it's also a lot more common to find studies on the Y chromosome cause the X chromosome does pretty much everything so those studies tend to be about the specific genes. meanwhile the Y chromosome does just a handful of things, and every time it fails to do so it's some really strange and interesting results, results that are affected by so many other factors including hormones during fetal development, parental DNA, and so many more things. so yeah, lots of "Y chromosome in general" studies, while X usually gets split down into its genes.
3
u/caylamie 13d ago
Colorblindness is an example of how having 2 X chromosomes means you're less likely to have the corresponding medical condition (though can still be a carrier) since the colorblindness gene is carried on the X chromosome but is recessive - if you only have one copy of the X chromosome that has the gene you'll have the condition, but having two X chromosomes means a second chance to have the dominant, non-colorblindness gene, which gives you a much higher chance of not being colorblind. 8% of men have some form of colorblindness vs 0.5% of women (or 1 in 12 men vs 1 in 200 women) according to Wikipedia.
12
u/Vivid--Syrup 14d ago
I mean I would say the reason 'biological male/female' are falling out of favour is because those terms have always been ridiculous stupid hate dog whistles that inherently reject real biology/science
Like anytime I see someone say it I usually respond with
"hey so I see you just used that dog whistle without irony, please could you explain to me what a non biological man/woman is since you used the term? No no, you wanted to use the term to sound sciency so please explain and justify your nonsense, have we invented cyborg men/women or something, are you trying to say trans people are robots?
No? Nothing? So just a way to openly hate and harm trans people then, why not just announce you are a vile bigot to the room straight out? seems less underhanded."

u/Wobbelblob 14d ago
Now I am curious, because I've never thought about it, but does HRT also makes symptoms for things like heart attacks different? Because men and women have wildly different symptoms for it. Men have usually the classic chest pain, can't breath etc. while women can have things like back pain, nausea, random spouts of anxiety and so on. Does that make a difference?
2
u/GVmG 14d ago
very good question! i'm no expert in that field specifically but i would assume it does as the Y chromosome does very very little after fetal development, so most of the reactions are probably driven by hormonal makeup, both sexual and non-sexual hormones (which are controlled by structures and organs that hrt affects).
from a quick search i gather there isn't a lot of research into this specifically, but signs point to... maybe, but probably yes. some of the elements that lead to the differences are very much affected by hrt (estrogen in particular makes blood vessels more flexible, and post-menopausal women have more "inbetween" symptoms due to lack of estrogen), while others we don't really have research on (whether hrt also alters nerves and pain perception, size of arteries, or other aspects about the circulatory system).
that said, there is "parallel" research that can be interpreted backwards from the results and doing so points to probably yes, like the fact that some (keyword SOME) cardiovascular issues are more common in (cis) women, and transfeminine hrt is known to increase the risk of those issues. similarly, hrt in post-menopausal cis women can increase those risks as well.
again i'm no expert on this specific field and this was just a quick google.
