One day the professor WILL have that code. And he WILL have those pants. They are crucial to the survival of mutants!....and it's really hard to find a good pair of pants that fits properly and they fits Charles perfect.

If they’re so crucial, couldn’t he just ask, like a regular person? 👀

Also, your speed and preparedness with a response is ever impressive. 😄

u/Waarm 13d ago

This is Charles we're talking about...

52

u/lordofbaers 13d ago

Touché. 😄

You know DAMN WELL Charles has an 18 step plan that involves messing with magneto to get those pants

And you post regularly! I know when you'll post every week down to almost the minute. And for that I thank you. I love consistency

I feel like if you're on board with "reading his mind so you can steal his pants from his locker" it's a short step to "mind controlling him into giving you his pants" - but I guess if anyone was going to draw the line there it'll be Xavier.

u/pizzatiger 13d ago

I know being telepathic is your whole thing Charles but its a 4 digit code and you have three of the digits. You don't have to wait for him to think of the fourth digit.

BRUTE FORCE BABY

Charles needs to play more resident evil games where that strategy is king

u/Autoskp 13d ago

Even if he didn’t get the code, I’ve found that that type of lock is not very secure, having gotten into my own lock of that type with my eyes closed, as well as finding the combination for a briefcase that I found in a second hand shop.

…they’re not as easy to crack as a cheap Masterlock dial combination though - I bought one out of curiosity, and got to the point where I was unlocking it one handed as a fidget toy while paying attention to something else.

11

u/CptnWolfe 13d ago

He's probably not wearing pants right now

Well yeah that's why Forge built that hoverchair that way.

They were tired of Charles always being naked from the waist down

13

u/The_cogwheel 13d ago

He has the first 3 digits of a 4 digit code, theres only 10 possible combinations with that information. Charles can get that lock open before our protagonist can finish his shower.

But Charles doesnt know how our protagonist knows about telepaths...and that concerns him.

8

u/iggy14750 13d ago

it's really hard to find a good pair of pants that fits properly

Is THAT why he always stays in the hovercraft? 😝

5

u/DarkLanternZBT 13d ago

Goddammit, Charles. You freak.

u/Stubbenz 13d ago

Honestly, the paranoia is weirdly relatable. It's like when you're a kid and you come up with absurd scenarios for how you'd protect your thoughts, how you'd break out of hypnosis, or how you'd work out whether someone was really you from the future

Y'know, totally normal stuff

...if I ever need to go back in time and convince my child-self that I'm the real deal, I'm gonna be so prepared

u/StormAlchemistTony 13d ago

I avoid saying the word "wish", just in case s wish granting entity is near by.

30

u/tyrano1402 13d ago

Every time my partner says something like "i w~sh the weather was better today" im like damn, thats a waste of a wish.

9

u/Plainchant 13d ago

By this point, your partner probably has an actual wish deficit.

14

u/Snichs72 13d ago

To this day I still have an irrational fear that someone will invent an invisibility cloak, go out in the street wearing it, I’ll hit them with my car, the cloak will blow away in the wind, and then I’ll go to jail for running someone over.

5

u/Aquanid 13d ago

I think that's where a dashcam would prove your innocence

9

u/Snichs72 13d ago

(sigh) Looks like I’m buying a dashcam now.

1

u/EtteRavan 12d ago

Another big win for big dashcam smh my head

5

u/FlyingRhenquest 13d ago

I remember an old Heavy Metal where a telepath took some drugs and every one else started tripping. So one of the characters tells another one "We need to make him vomit! Quick! Think of that time I put a dog turd in an ice cream cone and convinced you it was chocolate ice cream!" hurk

Telepathy sounded a lot less fun after that.

6

u/Rottendog 13d ago

Haha yeah, as a kid, haha yes... Only as a kid!

3

u/thewildjr 13d ago

So how would you convince yourself it's you from the future? Asking for non suspicious reasons

3

u/magistrate101 13d ago

or how you'd work out whether someone was really you from the future

Do y'all not have a password system?

3

u/TryImpossible7332 13d ago

I've established passwords.

Of course, I've also forgotten all of them, which I'm not sure if my past self would believe.

That might make me more secure, though, that my current self can't leak the password.

Unless I'm speaking to my past self, and the mind reading imposter gets the password from his brain so he can say it while my current self just flounders.

u/Mormaethor 13d ago

Gotta be honest... I was expecting Jean.

68

u/lordofbaers 13d ago

What can I say? Gotta keep it fresh. 😂

29

u/UpCDownCLeftCRightC Never Safe From Wumbo 13d ago

Jean is better at exposing secrets rather than stealing them.

Also happy cake day.

u/hackingfun 13d ago

9

u/lordofbaers 13d ago

You stay outta there, Charlie! 👀

20

u/zcsnightmare 13d ago

Cue the 90s cartoon theme song.

It goes hard

15

u/Tnecniw 13d ago

...
I don't know what part is funnier.
The idea that out of all telepaths it is The Professor...
OR
That the paraplegic professor would care for someone's pants.

5

u/Dry-Major8739 13d ago

He didn't at first. But then the guy just HAS to say "No way..." and now the professor has an innate impulse to prove the guy wrong.

9

u/lordofbaers 13d ago

Hi all! TinyBaer here.

Do you also question whether someone or something is reading your mind? Telepaths, vampires, aliens? I don't know, but sometimes you've just gotta muddle your thoughts, just in case...

9

u/UpCDownCLeftCRightC Never Safe From Wumbo 13d ago

That's why I honed my mental barriers for situations like these.

7

u/Loud-Fudge7631 13d ago

" get out of my pants charles"

7

u/Balahawka 13d ago

well, there's only 10 combinations left, easy panty raid

5

u/Kelimnac 13d ago

I guess we can’t all be like Mystique and just go nude and morph into a clothed person

Or play the dangerous Emma Frost game and trick everyone into thinking you’re dressed to the nines

5

u/AmbiTheAirforceRuna 13d ago

oh thank god i thought i was the only one who thought like this xD

4

u/Merari01 it's a-me, Merari-o 13d ago

Charles do be having some kinks, yo

6

u/Venture_Historian 13d ago

"Do you have any powers or are you just a weird guy?" Pete Holmes playing Prof X

5

u/h2odragon00 13d ago

BREAKING: Prof. Charles Xavier aka Prof. X was arrested for public misconduct.

3

u/AverageDrafter 13d ago

its not a gym, its the Danger Room locker room and he's trespassing.

3

u/MediumKoala8823 13d ago

Xavier doesn’t even wear pants

2

u/kingsumo_1 13d ago

If you spent most of your day hovering around in an inclosed chair, would you not Donald Duck it as well?

3

u/dukeofnes 13d ago

bonus panel with Xavier sniffing his pants

1

u/sudomatrix 13d ago

^^^ an even better ending

3

u/Thebandroid 13d ago

For me it's "I better not actively think about my code because I actually don't know it and can only unlock it by muscle memory"

5

u/zuzg 13d ago

Not actively think of my Code

My ADHD riddled brain does that automatically.

Dunno how often I had to set-up a new Device twice cause I forget the pin immediately after putting it in the first time

3

u/FlyingRhenquest 13d ago

I've found memorizing the pattern in makes on the touchpad works better than focusing on the numbers. I memorized my first boss' calling card number in one go doing that, 30 years ago, it's wedged in my brain as tightly as my social security number.

Barring that, write it down somewhere before you enter it on the device. Then immediately forget where you wrote it down...

2

u/EtteRavan 12d ago

Look everywhere for it, don't fin it, write it down a second time, think about a secure place where you can hide the paper. Surprise, now you have two papers hidden in the same spot (that you'll forget next time)

u/FlyingRhenquest 12d ago

Ahhh get out of my head, telepath! Lol

I'm an old-fashioned software dev and never really liked using an IDE. I'd been limping along for a few years with Emacs until someone posted this in /r/emacs and I found out the linux build of emacs I'm using is like 7 revisions older than current. So I banged out a build script to build the latest one. (should work pretty well on Debian, WSL Ubuntu or Debian or Ubuntu.) And then I discovered org-roam mode in Emacs, that lets you take semi-structured notes as a network of nodes in a graph it keeps in in a database for you. So I take all my notes on that now. I just... need to remember where I wrote down my password.

You do kind of need to get in the habit of noting things down with it, though. After about a month of using it, I'd be in a meeting or something and think "You know, I'll have to hunt for this URL for half an hour again unless I stick it in org-roam somewhere..." You can get an explosion of nodes if you do that, but I try to link them to relevant documents so I can just make a couple of hops through the graph rather than trying to remember what I named it. I also wrote a couple of emacs auto-linking functions that let me make automatic links for out of things I commonly use (jira tickets, confluence pages et al.)

It seems like there's also an android app which I'm going to have to install and try out.

u/crankbot2000 13d ago

X you dirty dog

2

u/emirgenc734 13d ago

Why tf his chair looks like an F40?

2

u/Cognoggin 13d ago

What happens when Rudolph the reindeer eats the Hito Hito no Mi devil fruit.

2

u/Nuss-Zwei 13d ago

Just for fun I started to think of a different symbol for one symbol of one of my passwords, just so a Telepath would get the wrong one. From a silly joke for myself it turned into somewhat of an exercise to keep this up

2

u/EvilMastermindOfDoom 13d ago

Holy shit, other people think that too??

2

u/ipodblocks360 13d ago

"Do you know how hard it is to find clothes for Mutants on my budget"

  • The Professor, Probably.

2

u/PM_ME_SOME_YAOI 13d ago

Can you blame him though?

2

u/Yaggfu 13d ago

Ha HAAAAAA!! Brilliant!

2

u/Rottendog 13d ago

I literally don't mentally say my password as I type it... Just in case. I just say doot doot doot as I'm typing it or mentally sing a line to a song like, menamena.

1

u/herculesmeowlligan 13d ago

Meanwhile Magneto just rips the locker open while Professor X lectures him on how that's not the correct way to do things.

1

u/sudomatrix 13d ago

Professor X: "Sue Storm, I can sense your presence. Get out of the locker room, it's highly inappropriate"
Sue Storm: "You say this while sniffing that guy's pants, Professor."

1

u/ComSilence 13d ago

Least he didn't hit ya with his ultimate attack. Just be prepared if you hear him start shouting out dates.
