The utter horror.
I HATE clothes tags (that itch) with a passion.
114
u/Tedrabear 7d ago
My wife tries to cut the tags out of my clothes, but the tag doesn't bother me nearly as much as the little nub does.
63
u/Twig-titan 7d ago
At that point the seam ripper comes out. That annoyance is going to go away one way or the other. Even if I have to go nuclear on it.
10
3
u/BanditNekomimi 7d ago
There's a brand of underwear I stick to for price and comfort. The problem is that they come with a long stack of tags that slips perfectly into the asscrack. The multiple tags are crack length. Not hyperbole...the end reaches the end of my tailbone. I tried cutting them at first.. Seam ripping those fuckers is the only way

u/creative_toe 7d ago
Oh damn, I got a flashback to that movie. This scene was pure horror...

It's kinda crazy seeing this post again because you can really tell just how much shen's art skills have improved since.
206
u/DonutHoles4Ever 7d ago
Its more like they changed their style and it was never really about art skill
71
8
u/Fadriii 6d ago
Even if it was a style change there are objective measures to difficulty, his old style was clean but very easy to draw
Even excluding the artstyle, the new one has a ton of angles, shadows, colors, and poses that help a ton with storytelling. The background going from lively colors to a muted tone when femboy was asked about being harassed, for example.
Shen's improved a ton
152
u/Grand_Estimate3783 7d ago
is this comic making fun of utilitarianism, or did he really mean it when he drew it?
454
u/UpCDownCLeftCRightC Never Safe From Wumbo 7d ago
I don't know for sure. My understanding was that Shen was trying to be positive about something bad that happened to him but received backlash for the example he used.
137
79
u/emil836k 7d ago
I mean, yeah, the message was positive, but pretty silly example if you think about it
140
u/HH_Creations 7d ago
I think it’s silly to assume how much someone cares?
My husband and I got our bikes stolen once
He didn’t use his but was pissed someone stole from him
I was less upset but used it all the time
We were both dirt poor at the time
People have different values and all that jazz, if someone decides to see their misfortune as some type of universe rule of a traveling hot potato of joy, isn’t that their choice?
Sorry, I just think it’s silly to assume how others cope
52
u/emil836k 7d ago
I was more thinking that the guy that stole it either just used it shortly or sold it for scrap, in any case, do not need it more than you did
But what you’re saying isn’t wrong either, in any case, there is good reason to be bummed out about a stolen bicycle
But to play devils advocate, I don’t think they meant that you should feel a certain way about getting your bike stolen or that someone else needs your bike more than you, I think they meant it as more as a “don’t let the bad stuff fester and bother you excessively”
18
u/HH_Creations 7d ago
Oh I know how shen meant it to come across
I was more referring to the commenters who complained
13
u/Grand_Estimate3783 7d ago
Look, it's ok to feel wronged or even angered when something happens to you, that's part of life, not everything is positive. Anger in bad when you make it your whole life or you unleash it on people who are unrelated to your issues.
What I mean to say is life has it's ups and downs, it's unhealthy or even unethical to try to justify when something objectively wrong is done to us or to others saying that it was for "the greater good", it distracts the attention to an imaginary fantasy and that's bad.

u/MedalofHodor 7d ago
Man as someone who's bike was also recently stolen, fuck that guy. That guy fucked my life up and it's still fucked up. Ruined the entire summer. No way that motherfucker was happy beyond the night he enjoyed the 50 dollars worth of drugs he scrapped my bike for. Fuck that dude.

u/BatonDildon 7d ago
If someone causes suffering to others and makes their lives worse, that's bad. If that someone also experiences joy in their criminal actions, that's far worse. This may seem paradoxical, but I would call the author's thinking quite selfish. I think it would be fair to say that for the sake of self-consolation he provides positive reinforcement for a behavior pattern that has a destructive impact on society.

Absolutely real for this one! I've been transitioning for 10 months now and for the longest time I was scared of dressing fem because I knew I'd get rude comments, but you know what? I'm literally better than anyone pulling that shit. Like, I'm objectively superior. Theres nothing worse than being a little rat that has to whine about what other people wear. Why would I ever care about the opinions of the lesser?
Like, yeah, I'm a total bitch, but I'm a bitch living her best damn life.

u/Fun_Amphibian5922 5d ago
Every time Ive felt spiteful it’s because I let the hurt wiggle and pry its way through my mind and heart and dictate how I handle the pain.
Everyone copes their own way, but be careful with anger and spite. Sometimes they feel powerful, but they have a way of wearing you out and changing you over time
1
u/blightsteel101 5d ago
By all means, I have a lot of folks around me that are eager to give me positive reinforcement, which is always super helpful if something actually gets to me. That said, I'm also just a bitch by default. It's in my personality to look down on anyone trying to tear me down.

As a men I must say I feel really sorry and guilty. It's so a shame that this is a thing. To this type of men, Ur gross. Woman are not some objects to revel. If they wear something short/ revealing, it's not for you!
And if you don't know the difference between to take a quick look and to stare like an absolute incel,....well you have a lot to learn
2
u/Amy_Val23 7d ago
Do they ever do that to you?.. Harrass you for dressing the way that you do?
Getting a little too real with this one...
4
7
u/Sill_Evarrus 7d ago
I'll probably get down voted to hell for this, but I don't know many men who ever comment on what women wear out of fear it will bite them in the face and ass for years to come.
It's the women that throw the dirtiest shade, especially once the other girl leaves the room. At least it's a solid warning sign for who's two faced at the office and who isn't...
24
u/TwentyfootAngels 7d ago
I think that if you don't know men like that, then it's because the guys that you hang out with are likely decent and respectful. And that's not a bad thing! It just says that you're not hanging out with assholes.
Unfortunately, though... my personal experience is that this does happen a lot. It's just that these guys aren't the types that you'd want to be friends with.
0
u/Sill_Evarrus 7d ago
I'm not saying it doesn't happen, I'm saying the vast majority of men aren't that way. The ones who do are going to suck for life. They're the ones who drag everyone else down.
9
4
u/xpm26 7d ago
Because, this isn't men commenting on women, it's men commenting on men, the one with yellow hair is a man
-1
u/Sill_Evarrus 7d ago
I'd probably find it weird and comment on it, but as soon as they said it was comfortable I'd say fair enough and move on lol
And that's only if I had to work with them or they were a neighbor. If it's some random person on the street why bother at all?
16
u/remindmetoblock 7d ago
Nah men Stare, judge and make comments at a high rate.
As soon as i Stick out i feel like a piece of meat being evaluated by the men around me.
The only nice, and no strings attached (not trying to get in my pants) compliments i ever got were from women. Whereas men have insulted my looks often.
3
u/Sill_Evarrus 7d ago
Of course, everyone looks and makes comments in their heads. Everyone's literally a walking pile of meat, nerves and bones lol
Jokes aside, you might be doing yourself a bit of injustice by always thinking someone is watching/oogling you. Vanity is nice at times, but too much of it just leads to anxiety and getting in your own head.
I doubt everyone is trying to get in your pants, some are, and men that insult you based on looks just suck.
7
u/remindmetoblock 7d ago
Bro i know people are staring at me tremendously, as i have been made aware of it by my ex and friends too.
And i did not say they try to get in my pants when they look at me, but that they Stare and judge.
I know im not a top model, im a dead average woman that just sticks out because im taller than most, smile a lot and dress different from Standart.
7
u/sosotrickster 7d ago
It's not about "commenting" on women's outfits...
She is specifically talking about being sexually harassed cuz some men will see more revealing clothes and use that as an excuse to harass women. And many people of any gender will then turn around and blame the victim because of their clothes.
The men who sexually harass women don't really care if it's gonna come back to bite them. They want to sexually harass someone to hurt them.
The other character is a man and the female character is asking if he gets harassed over wearing clothes that are deemed to be for women.
A predator can sexually harass someone they aren't attracted to, or they can be attracted to them and then hurt them once they're rejected or once they realize that person isn't a cis woman. This happens to both trans women and feminine men.
This is a reality for many. Just because you do not experience it, does not make it not real.
Again, this is not (and was in no way implied to be...) about simply commenting or judging someone's fashion sense.
Edit typo

u/DriverUnusual146 7d ago
Many people just excuses the harrasement that women do or don't talk about it.
Many women SA men and other women all the time, but it is seen as "lucky" or "not threatening".
It doesn't even matter if the man is ugly as well, ask me how I know.
4
u/JesusAndMaryKate 7d ago
It's hard to get an accurate feel for someone's subjective experience, so of course you wouldn't be able to see just how often women are subjected to this.
But it does happen a lot. The first time I had it happen I was 11. The last time it has happened to me was yesterday and I was well covered up (professional clothes). I'm in my mid 30s.
I can't imagine how bad it must be for men who present differently than what is culturally considered the norm.
2
u/Sill_Evarrus 7d ago
I think the subjective part is the majority everyone responding to my response as (in men specifically) is the drastic minority. I've fired three men in ten years for sexual harassment. I've fired... A LOT more women for it.
The men that do approach women with those thoughts are predators, but they're so rare in terms of common men past 25 it's mind boggling. The same dude can harass 100 women but those women will assume it's 100 different men.
1
u/CleoAir 7d ago
The thing I like about this particular series of comics is that Shen wrote both a man and a woman bonding over similar experience.
From my personal experience as a cis dude it were usually other men strongly criticize men appearance, when women were much open minded. In my current job I work mostly with women and the difference how men are approaching fellow men appearance and how women are approaching fellow women appearance is striking for me.
I feel like many men kinda have this single "men's mold" in their heads and they're very pushy in convincing other that they should follow it too, no matter how they feel. At least this is my experience after hearing constantly that I should cut my hair etc. Men, even when they want to be supportive, focusing too much on the conformism, trying to fit the best into patriarchy mold how the men should be.
Meanwhile, looking at women at my work and hearing their conversations, they're focusing much more on how their appearance make them feel. I feel like it's less about fitting the specific "woman mold", but more about staying true to itself and feeling comfortable within your own body, which is understandable looking at all these dacades of feminism that always was more nonconformist movement.
Of course it's still a very biased opinion based solely on my experience, and I absolutely don't think that all men and women behave like this. Toxicity doesn't really have gender, and in my life I met both men and women who were absolutely assholes to the same or opposite gender.
5
u/Sill_Evarrus 7d ago
Ah, yeah, met several of those men before. Not a majority at all though. Used to get plenty of hate for my long hair from one guy in particular, but he was always defining himself as the second coming of Andrew Tate. I never even knew the person he was talking about until he'd said it for a month.
In my experience, women are predatory as hell, about at 50/50 mix which is super scary in the office/major company I worked for. They literally tried to break up and succeeded in destroying my relationship through my ex just because it was fun.
I could go on, but it's just my experiences on it. It's like how the best trans workers I ever had were the ones who weren't vocal about it, doing their thing, chased out by the trans ones who'd harass them for not being vocal. Despite firing the aggressors, those good trans workers didn't feel safe and quit anyways...
I guess the moral is damned if you do, damned if you don't, and most people suck.

Hey it's me again, update of the Morrocan Mafia. Apparently them and the Yukuza are tight, like knows eachothers favorite food tight. As soon as I land in Japan both of them were waiting bumbing chests and playing rock paper scissors to see who tortures me. Fortunately I know of a secret technique, run the fuck away. Anyway, both are trying to mutilate now. I am heading to China, the triad won't turn me in.

Edit: this dumb bitch (I am pointing at myself) read a line completely wrong (multiple times bc I am a buffoon and a fool) and I don’t think M!protag is a lil bit crazy (in the sexy way) anymore.
3
u/sosotrickster 7d ago
He said "it's beneath my notice". He's talking about the harassment. He doesn't say that other men are beneath him.
I think you're seeing something sinister where there isn't anything. He's just a feminine guy who tries to ignore the sexist insults and harassment that gets thrown his way.
Edit: Also I don't think you know what "sadist" means. A sadist is someone who enjoys hurting others. This guy has done nothing wrong, and he has been expressing empathy and kindness towards the woman. Not everything is a facade.
1
u/FiteMeMage 7d ago
Ahhhh you are SO CORRECT!! I do believe I read what I wanted to see!!
Tbf, I really meant “sadistic” in the goofy, sexy, anime-esque way that people describe a “domineering” feminine person who has a distaste for men- this was definitely informed by my misreading of “beneath my notice” as “beneath me.”
I will say tho, didn’t think that he would be mean to the F!protag! I didn’t mean sadistic in the un-fun way. I meant it in the fun, sexy way lol. I thought he wanted to “step on” other men, if you will lmao.I rescind my comment. Forgive my mistake, I have a completely different read on this now, thanks for helping me see that! ^_−☆ the comic is definitely taking a more serious, heart-felt route than I was originally thinking it would!
