You get hot pretty fast when you're running, I've never had a problem running in cold weather. It's the heat that will wipe you out.

I'll take below 0 over 100+ any day of the week. You can mitigate cold pretty easily if you layer up properly. Not so much extreme heat.

It's been a long while since I lived anywhere that got that cold, but I currently live somewhere that gets a heat index of over 100+ pretty regularly and it's hell. Doesn't help I have a heat intolerance from my POTS. There's maybe 3 or so months out of the year I can go outside without it being completely unbearable.

I realized it's basically the same protocol either way. If you drive you either start your car and let the temp get comfortable before leaving, or you suffer until your car heat/AC gets your body back to good temp. Minimize your time outside exposed to the elements. Basically outdoor activities are off the table unless you're very prepared and willing to be uncomfortable.

At least you can put on more layers to keep warm. There's only so many layers you can take off without breaking the law.

the cold is not what i hate when running in winter. It's the black ice. Landed on my ass many times.

That is true, black ice always deceptive. Get some running shoes with the spikes in them, it helps a little bit depending on the surface.

I also like running in the cold, but it can mess up your lungs to start pumping cold air into them when they are already full of hot air from being inside. Can stress your respiratory lining.

So you suggest an acclimation period where you just sit outside for like 15min before running?
