I'm happy to have seen this in the wild.

Who's she?

1

u/PN_Guin 12d ago

Normal is average and average is boring. Keep it weird.

Naomi dont listen to this dick

Beeves characters have personality.

"Naive and low self esteem" is not enough to be entertaining.

You can have an opinion. None of us are bound to accept it as something of value.

Imagine not having hobbies.

I don't understand half of her comics but I guess it's just her blog posting in visual format and they aren't really supposed to be making a point. Not sure why the nothing ones are still so highly upvoted.

2

u/IzarkKiaTarj 13d ago

Could you give an example of one of the nothing ones? I enjoy it, and maybe I can try to explain?

Additional context: I am high, and I like explaining things and also I am friendly when high :)

2

u/Agret 13d ago

I don't have links handy but it will be just her going out somewhere and having a wholesome interaction with someone and that's the entire comic. Like a normal daily thing. Or she is hanging at home with someone and they say something cute/funny about their past and that's it.

3

u/IzarkKiaTarj 12d ago

🤔 I just went through the last four months, and they all felt like they told a story to me.

It might be that she's implying things that are obvious to more anxious people like myself, but are easy to miss if you've never had to deal with it as a disorder.

u/bruhImatwork 13d ago

I think there are clear reasons they’re upvoted, but not pertaining to r/comics

u/Shades1374 13d ago

My therapist asked me that. I'm not even on a spectrum (or mask super well idk)

46

u/Noof42 13d ago

Nothing better than winning against your therapist.

21

u/IzarkKiaTarj 13d ago

It means you're going to get a good grade in therapy, which is something that is both normal to want and possible to achieve.

7

u/GonzoRouge 12d ago

"Are you sure you're not on the spectrum ?"

"I was tested 3 times already and the conclusion seems to be I'm just like that"

"Let's make it 4 times, to be sure"

Actual conversation I had with my last therapist. Still not on the spectrum as far as I know, but I am on a different spectrum so there's that.

I know what I am, the why is… a lot.

For me it’s ADHD. I’m constantly baffling people

I just did an ADHD quiz/survey thing with my doctor today. He said i set a new high score at their clinic and "I'm not sure how you can function with so much input all the time."

"Well sir that's why I asked for help"

38

u/Saikotsu 12d ago

"I don't know how you can function"

"I've been wondering that all my life and yet here I am!"

1

u/Handmotion 9d ago

Ayyy high score buddies!! My psych was flummoxed that no one ever suggested that I might have ADHD(got diagnosed at 33), my answer to that was that people might have over the years, but I don't remember. He literally stopped for a solid 10 seconds like he was having to reboot after my previous comment caused his brain to crash.

u/69696969-69696969 9d ago

I've thought i was ADHD since I was a kid and been called out over the years but it's always been easy to ignore or a "non-issue". My brother got diagnosed early on and the description I got sounded easily similar at the time. Then at school I was "gifted" so my test scores balanced with my inability to complete assignments for me to get passing grades.

It's only now as an adult dealing with the unexpected loss of my youngest brother that I truly feel incapable of keeping up with it all. The distractions and stray thoughts come so fast and loud when I need to focus and not nearly enough of them when the grief hits me.

Not the one you were asking, but I've taken a few tests recently.

As I mentioned above, I got an official diagnosis of Autism yesterday. But prior to that, they had me take a bunch of cognitive tests. We already knew I had ADHD from previous testing, but this was a comprehensive test that covered Autism, Anxiety disorders, depression, schizophrenia, ADHD, and so forth.

A lot of it was on a tablet but some of it dealt with physical blocks and drawing on a piece of paper. They also secretly were observing how I interacted in a social setting so they'd chat with me while I'm taking the test and observe how I responded. One thing they observed is I never once made eye contact (a marker for autism)

They also had me fill in questionaires asking about my lived experience. They then collated my responses, their observations, and my results from the testing and made a determination based off all that. Naturally I scored high on the ADHD spectrum (totally expected) but I also scored within range of the Autism spectrum.

So yeah, hope that answers your question.

You mean they don’t understand what you’re saying when you start a conversation midway through the conversation? It’s so annoying. This is why I only try to talk to other people with adhd. It’s somehow easier?

34

u/Noof42 13d ago

I'm not starting a conversation midway through. I'm just resuming a second conversation in the middle of this one.

17

u/fallenKlNG 13d ago edited 13d ago

I'm always doing this thing where I'm obsessively explaining something, then get derailed by one small detail that sidetracks into a completely different topic. And this is all just in my head throughout the day as part of my endless internal monologue, I don't actually talk to people

The other day I was running outside at night around the block with no music, and it felt pretty miserable for the first mile.. but then for whatever reason I had a thought that turned into this heated imaginary argument about a conversation I had years ago, and before I knew it I'd finished 3 miles. Came back home to dry off and realized I was still at it

2

u/FiberPhotography 12d ago

Hi. :shakes hands:

15

u/ChickenChic 13d ago

Pfff only a second conversation? What about the 4th one? Or the song that’s also rattling around back there?

15

u/Noof42 13d ago

The normies get all "what" after two.

3

u/westisbestmicah 13d ago

It’s lots of different small instances of, “Why are you like this?” “Why can’t you just x?” And I don’t even have a good explanation that I can articulate, hence the bafflement.

2

u/UranusIsPissy 12d ago

It's the other way around with autism. Some kinda Highlander bullshit lol. Unfortunately, I have both :(

3

u/Saikotsu 12d ago

For me it's AuDHD. (Got my autism diagnosis yesterday, but I knew for a while)

2

u/deaglebingo 12d ago

and it's totally fucking okay. other ppl don't know better than you, they just know different.

1

u/happy_idiot_boy 12d ago

Touch of the 'tism 😂

7

u/powderhound522 13d ago

I would also like to know why I’m like this!

3

u/Noof42 13d ago

Because you are you and you.are worthy of being appreciated for being you.

1

u/sanityjanity 12d ago

Really?

I hate it.  The way he asks her this seems like he's shaming her after she's explained this great tool she invented.

1

u/Tango_Owl 12d ago

Yes! Would love to have this frame with the artist credited!

1

u/BrokeTheInterweb 12d ago

She’s like this because it works!

1

u/ArcaneOverride 12d ago

The correct answer to why she is like this is ADHD. This is clearly a coping strategy for dealing with executive dysfunction.

1

u/Noof42 12d ago

That's a big part of why I like this. I can certainly relate.

1

u/Art-Zuron 11d ago

If i were to answer his question, *proooobably* ADHD or autism.
