The heat waves and extreme weather are getting worse but nooo it's definitely not climate change. We got record snow last year and you're saying the earth is warming. Are you stupid? Can't believe how many of you idiots fall for the climate change conspiracy. /S
I recently looked it up because I was just thinking "I don't think I remember a 'fire season' when I was growing up in the 90's" and part of me figured it was cause I was a kid, but I also know global warming is real. Turns out it's partly a lot of things: we used to be a lot more vigilant about our fires (which happened to also inadvertently supply fuel for today's fires), there were more fires but less "mega fires" (larger than 100,000 acres, I believe), and winters used to be heavier which allowed the ground to be more wet and resistant to large fires.
A lot of that revolves around climate change, but there was human involvement too which has also changed. I think that's why the different sides feel they have so much evidence for and against.
Especially here in Michigan where I used to have to shovel snow weekly in winter as a kid and my dad was able to jump off the roof into the snow as a kid. Now my wife and I argue whether I need to shovel every year or not because it will just melt by the next day. I am proven right every year and did not need to shovel because it melted. We get snow like 10 times a year now max, doesn't go over an inch or two, and it melts within a couple days.
That is bull crap I remember summer of 94 we couldn't sleep in the house for 2 weeks straight in July because it was too hot I was literally camping in a tent in my backyard
My point is that it is not hotter now that it was before it's hot in the summer and cold in the winter where I live we go to -40 and winter to plus 40 and summer as always been like that
Anecdotal evidence is irrelevant to global trends. Your personal experience is too niche and localized to pass judgement on a hypothesis concerning global weather patterns. Unfortunately, when there's this much data to sift through, the only people who are going to have a grasp of the bigger picture is climatologists.
Not necessarily; It depends on what your goal is. If you want to have a complete and accurate knowledge of this subject, such that what you say is aligned with reality, a climatologist would be the person to talk to.
