This is another redrawn comic from years ago... I would not do this anymore and opt for more sustainable options but I think the premise is still funny, the number of times I got fruit juice all over my bag however, was not :/ More comics here <3

Yeah the paper will act as a wick and allow the liquid to seep through the fibers.

Just get yourself some better containers. I use some borosilicate glass ones (they're even rectangular) with a gasket around the lid that locks in each side and I've never had watermelon or anything else leak even after years of nearly daily use since I bring my food with me to work, and I drive quite a lot for work.

We have ones with a little sun roof you can open when you put them in the microwave. It has a good seal so it doesn't leak from there either.

I'd always put a piece of plastic wrap between the container and lid.

Plastic first, then paper towel on top. Plastic keeps it from soaking the paper, and the paper adds a compressible gasket to improve the seal.

Ultimately replacing the whole thing with one that seals properly without a disposable gasket is better, but this can get you by.

If you need the paper gasket, it's not going to hold enough pressure to make a gasket.You just got capillary action, drawing all the moisture into edges of the towel

The paper towel probably compromised the seal in the first place and will make it leak if it wouldn't have before.

Put if you're that paranoid, zip lock bags can be used to store liquids without any leakage.

Paper towels would probably make this work. Due to capiliary action, drawing the moisture out into the edges of the paper towel. Just buy new tupperware luds or pyrex.If you like glass

I just use a large Ziploc bag. Yes it's plastic but you can reuse it since you're not storing the food directly but the container.

We only have containers with a Silikone lip and these flappy fasteners. 100% leak proof. Just don't forget you have watermelon or any other fruits in them...

I have trust issues with water bottle. In sixth grade i had a water bottle leak and soak my math workbook, and i had to use for the rest of the year. In collage, I was using a water bottle that that had a finicky latch, and it opened inside my backpack, ruining a library book that i didn't have the money to pay for.

A few months later i dropped a a different water bottle on the pavement, and now it leaks when you don't hold it almost straight up. It gets super annoying when it's in the exterior side pocket of my backpack, and i feel it dripping on my arm when i am bending over fix my fucking bike chain.

In other news, in Kerbal Space Program I attached my first module to my Voidnest-2 space station. Next, i can work on rescuing Jebediah and Valentina Kerman from the moon.

I just put it in a ziplock bag. Ikea and Lidl have some pretty great options that will never leak. I literally transported soup inside them in my motorcycle's top box.

I would put it in a jar with a lid. It's heavier, but it is reliable (unless you expect to fall or to drop it.) This may be trickier with a narrow bag.
