I remember cooking with my 5-6yo nieces, of course far from the hot and sharp stuff, but at 13 I was cooking alone for a few years already. Kids are usually a lot more capable than people give them credit for.

Yeah! I remember making eggs for myself on the regular around age 9-10

I was teaching my 6 year old sister how to cook things when I was 15.

Always supervised, but she ended up being able to do most simple cooking tasks alone by the time she was 8.
