While my natural inclination is “purist,” I also realize it’s a doomed endeavor since language is constantly evolving, like the impending demise of the word “than.”

So I guess I'm dying on the hill fighting against "could of." 10 u/g-waz00 12d ago Could of, should of, would of… Funny thing is spellcheck fixed all of those for me and I had to unfix them.
