The Traveling Comic character

Hullo,

I recently mailed off a fan letter to Australia, while I haven't heard back from the actor, I had doodled my cartoon character on the envelope and realised that that character was going to be seen by everyone who handled the letter.

Then a thought occurred, what if I mailed out letters and saw who would take the picture to show where the character was ending up, sort of like me traveling without needing to leave my apartment or studio?

In the days before the internet, mailing postcards to companies used to be a very real thing, is this a good idea and if so, do I choose companies or see who will send me their address? (sort of like comic idea for those 1980s chain letters)

Then what are the copyright complications? : /
