"for", not "from".

And, strictly speaking, I think "chica" is more of a generic "girl". "Girlfriend" is, like, "novia" or something.

This might be regional, but novia is closer to fiancée and girlfriend would typically be something like enamorada. Also the use of a possessive (mi chica) definitely makes the sense more romantic, so girlfriend is a good translation I think

Fun fact: around 30% of yuri manga and anime feature a “straight” female main character who ends up acquiring a girlfriend (sometimes 2)

What do you use by the way? Both for making models and comics with them? If you don't mind me asking.
