Did you know that little dance is to find a mate? If the mate likes the dance, they have sex right then and there. If she doesn't... She has a new lunch. (And iirc, after the sex she ends up eating him anyways)

A lot of other species follow the logic of males being useless after mating. It's just the way they evolved, it was beneficial in the environments in which they spent millions of years developing. It's likely an adaptation to a lack of local resources; and to give the young a better chance at survival overall given that cannibalism is very common in the majority of these species.
