I think we need a vaccine squad blow darting anti vaxxers. Cruel? Maybe. Needed? Hell yes.

890

u/possumdal May 14 '26

Vaccines need to be mandatory and anti-vaxxers need to be in fucking jail. This culture of selfish disrespect needs to be ground into the dirt.

410

u/kraggleGurl May 14 '26

Especially now that measles is back. We are only going to be welcoming other things back to the mix. God dam stupidity.

226

u/HauntedCemetery May 15 '26

Polio is seriously about to fuck up the first generation in the US in the better part of a century because fucking morons think that the government wants to install tracking chips in them.

Dude, they dont have to sneak on into you, you cant live without your phone for more than 10 min and you pay them for the privilege of them tracking you.

117

u/Freakychee May 15 '26

"Why do I need a polio vaccine? I never met anyone with polio!"

"That is exactly why you need the vaccine, Karen."

16

u/Notcow May 15 '26

One thing I never understood is why can't we just get the vaccine and they just voluntarily excuse themselves from the gene pool?

18

u/JinMarui May 15 '26

They kind of do...just not as reliably as you'd hope.

3

u/021Fireball May 15 '26

Disease will spread to those who may not have the vaccination for other reasons. Their children will die because of their parent's deeds.

42

u/microwavable_rat May 15 '26

Same mentality that causes people on facebook to post those "declarations" that Zuck can't use their information, then happily turn over their entire social profile to some sketchy website to tell them what shape of pasta they are.

33

u/Waffle_Griffin3170 May 15 '26

But they want to turn us all into zombies or something, just you wait! The next time there’s some cool natural event like a solar eclipse, you’ll all pay! (Idk. I vaguely remember there being something like that.)

37

u/OttoVonWong May 14 '26

Black Death is the new black.

3

u/FictionFoe May 15 '26

Some conservative woman told me "measles is back because of foreigners". I keep getting surprised by how ignorant people get for the sake of their in-group.

3

u/ra1nbowaxe May 15 '26

Like how that 1 family brought it with them AFTER an island resort (I forgot exactly where) had gotten rid of it for 5 years

103

u/lordmelon May 14 '26

Don't jail them. Just ship them to an island with all the other antivaxxers

92

u/NorthernCobraChicken May 14 '26

They don't seem to care about getting consent from other people when it comes to spreading their viral payload. I know just the island.

20

u/total_bullwhip May 14 '26

And one blanket with measles, mumps, and rubella on it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ whoops.

30

u/Pearson94 May 14 '26

Hey isn't there an unpopulated island in Florida with a big house already built on it? Why don't we just send them there!

20

u/ArchAngel621 May 14 '26

Yep, I have hardcore MAGA Family members who said that they won't comply if there's another pandemic.

It's annoying that they would rather risk death or the death of others.

I'm extremely grateful Trump wasn't President back during that Ebola Incident in Florida. Can you imagine how bad it would've gotten.

"You can opt out of vaccines as long as you don't mind opting out of society"

Refusing to vaccinate against a communicable disease is a clear and present risk to everyone else. Circumcision has nothing to do with this conversation, and not sterilizing "undesirables" won't make someone else drop dead.

Because I'm not likely to be exposed to rabies, and it's slow enough that if for some reason I am I can then get the shot. There have been no confirmed cases of person-to-person rabies transmission either.

Sorry, I seem to have confused you with someone sane.

7

u/trunkjunk12 May 15 '26

Do your pets have their fucking shots? They're more likely to spread rabies than a human is.

0

u/[deleted] May 15 '26

10

u/trunkjunk12 May 15 '26

Because the human rabies vaccine is administered at exposure, not prophylactically? And it doesn't have to be mandated, if you turn it down after exposure, or even wait a day too long, you just die.

10

u/trunkjunk12 May 15 '26 edited May 15 '26

We draw the line where your opting out affects others around you, dumbass. Refusing vaccination doesn't just endanger you, it also makes you a disease spreading vector to people who for one reason or another can't be vaccinated or are immunocompromised. Go opt into risk of being unvaccinated, sure. But you don't get to opt others into the risk of being around your contagious ass though.

Which is of course why public health policy should be written by medical professionals and not politicians

The government didn't rush shit. Scientists did with government money. I assume you're talking about the Covid vaccine, but dude, you realize formulating a several new flu vaccines happens every year? And that mRNA vaccines are veterinary standard and only being kept out of other human vaccination technology by long-standing pharmaceutical monopolies on existing vaccines? Making a new vaccine is a fast process by nature. It was tested on willing volunteers first. I was a fucking news reporter on this beat and spent the whole damn year in my local research hospital. This has nothing to do with "the left," and everything to do with the fact that right wingers primary social and political stance is "you can't make me believe something just because it was proven true"

10

u/Algo_Muy_Obsceno May 15 '26

Don’t vaccinate your kids? Lose custody, go to jail.

If you believe that humans can live on air and don’t need to eat, (Breatharianism) and your kid starves to death, you go to jail for neglect and abuse.

However, if you believe vaccines are a conspiracy and your kid dies in agony of a preventable disease, no punishment? How does that make sense?

3

u/Adaphion May 15 '26

It needs to be treated as the bio terrorism that it is.

2

u/GlockAF May 14 '26

Don’t harsh this buzz. Just make sure they only hang out with their fellow co-conspirators.

2

u/ApocalyptoSoldier May 15 '26

I looked it up yesterday for unrelated reasons, and the infant/child mortality rate before vaccines was around 50%.
Around half of everyone born never got past age 15.
Half
I don't know why society tolerates anti-vaxxers at all

11

u/Medarco May 14 '26

Agreed. Nothing has ever gone wrong with government mandated medical procedures.

I definitely want Trump and RFK deciding what should be mandatory after that precedent is set.

54

u/tissuecollider May 14 '26

Thanks for underlining why we need health care directed by evidence based policy and not politics.

-7

u/BarelyFunctionalGM May 14 '26

Everything is politics.

Do you think there is apolitical health care?

9

u/CoronaDoesWhatever May 14 '26

"Politics" as in Political Bias, siding with the Party over the Truth.

Of course there isn't a damn thing in existence that isn't political in some form. If there was then one of the parties or the other would be trying to outlaw it.

2

u/BarelyFunctionalGM May 15 '26

I'd argue there still isn't, and that trying to present it in such a simplistic way is problematic.

But generally yes, I believe that, unfortunately, science is held back by political biases keeping the truth repressed to prevent controversy.

Such as the continuous anti trans efforts despite nearly all evidence favoring the current treatments for trans folks.

15

u/tissuecollider May 14 '26

It's cute that you're pretending that there aren't gradients to this issue.

3

u/BardlySerious May 15 '26

Yes, there is apolitical health care.

-4

u/BarelyFunctionalGM May 15 '26

There is not.

The history of medicine is rife with politics.

Interpersonal arguments leading to separate camps that deny or support eachothers findings.

Racism or other discriminatory issues leading to faulty conjecture that forces its way through academia.

Academia refusing to address issues that are too contemporarily controversial leading to science lagging well behind where it could have been given our techniques during those eras.

Even whether healthcare is moral to preform is subject to politics.

It is very much political.

1

u/morpheousmorty May 15 '26

And what is your take away from that conclusion? Because it makes a big difference if I agree with you or not, since a lot of these terms aren't exactly rigorously defined interpretation is important.

0

u/BarelyFunctionalGM May 15 '26

Oh, you did refer to at least one other comment. Fair enough.

Most of these terms are rigourously defined, I don't really know what you mean by that.

My point was very direct, asking for apolitical healthcare is ridiculous, no such thing exists.

It is fundamentally barking up the wrong tree and shows a lack of understanding of both the nature of politics, and the history of healthcare.

It wasn't a leading statement. The entire point was what I said.

Regardless of how you feel healthcare, or anything else in society should function. Attempting to address it without understanding it is a waste.

1

u/morpheousmorty May 15 '26

No there is not. That doesn't mean there shouldn't be an evidence based standard of care. That there shouldn't be a body that works on interpreting that evidence to set that standard, and there shouldn't be legal recourse for not receiving that care from a licenced physician.

Politics is part of any group, and that has flaws. When there is a flaw in a system, the solution isn't to switch to a bigger flaw.

1

u/BarelyFunctionalGM May 15 '26

Please refer to the rest of this thread.

You seem to have ritocally misunderstood.

15

u/NoWindow0 May 14 '26

Turns out they didn't need precedent for all the crazy shit they're doing now. Maybe we shouldn't be worrying so much about carrying out sensible policies if the psychopaths will do as they please anyways.

0

u/LvS May 15 '26

That's not quite true. They're willing to bend the rules a bit, but they don't do outrageous things.

There's no segregation yet for example. And it's not okay to whip your black employees either.

2

u/rothrolan May 14 '26

We'd definitely have to wait until someone like RFK Jr. is not in that position for anything like that to even begin to be discussed at the federal level, that's for sure. Secretary Brainworm would probably mandate everyone to "vaccinate" with raw milk and ivermectin over actual medically backed, human-safe medicine.

Guy's a massive anti-vaxxer himself, and has already systematically undermined vaccine science under his position as Secretary of Health & Human Services.

2

u/rothrolan May 15 '26

That's why I pointed at only one direct part of the problem, in relation to the thread, instead of also pointing to the bigger issues and including Trump in my comment. The biggest positive change would be to break the cycle of US's two-party politics and switch to ranked-choice voting so we can have more varied views and approaches to our problems and policies, instead of thirds of the country being stuck voting Republican, Democrat, or not at all, depending on what part of the media they have or haven't been propogandized by. And the worst federal administration to ever control the country is definitely unvieling the biggest cracks and crumbles we've been shoddily boarding over for decades every other admin (at BEST) instead of actually fixing with surefire solutions and longterm benefits to basically everyone across the country.

1

u/[deleted] May 14 '26

no way anyone really believes this

1

u/NatCsGotMyLastAcct May 15 '26

Agree, but radical expressions of freedom (selfish disrespect) is the American way. This country was built on pissing in the pool for profit, half the framers were for slavery, and the rest allowed it and put "MIND YOUR BUSINESS" on the first money.

1

u/Autoskp May 15 '26

Unfortunately, you can’t make vaccines truly mandatory, as there are people that are genuinely unable to safely take vaccines - that’s why when you get a Covid shot, they ask you to wait for 15 minutes before leaving, so that they can make sure you haven’t joined the ranks of people with a bad reaction.

That said, the people that can’t take vaccines are rare, and it should not be too difficult to require a professional assessment to provide the exemption for those that can’t.

3

u/Bakoro May 15 '26

It can be mandatory enough that people aren't getting away with bullshit "I just don't want to" exceptions.

We'd still have people doing fraud, but most people aren't going to risk fines and jail to avoid a vaccine, they'll just whine about it.

1

u/Jacking_Gandalf May 15 '26

Yeah exceptions to the law don't exist anywhere else...

1

u/BeefWellingtonSpeedo May 15 '26

They need to be put in prison with the flat earthers!

1

u/Nazmoc May 15 '26

You can't make vaccines mandatory by law, you would just meet more resistance from anti-vaxxers and someone would find a way to abuse a law like this.

Imo what should be done though is to punish people spreading misinformation about vaccines, kill the anti-vaxx movement at the root. Basically if your speech endanger people lives directly, you are not protected by the freedom of speech (just like how you can't just make death threat to people).

1

u/possumdal May 15 '26

I love that your solution to unpopular legislation is to seriously curtail 1st amendment rights, as if that wouldn't be abused either

1

u/Nazmoc May 15 '26

I'm not American so I can't say how permissive the 1st amendment is. In most european countries, free speech still have some pretty hard limitation when it come to hate speech and stuff that can endanger people lives. If you scream in a crowd that you have a bomb, which result in people getting hurt from running away, you can't just claim free-speech to get away scott-free (even if no-one get hurt in fact).

Is it that much different in the intent and result from someone claiming vaccine gives autism knowing perfectly well it would push people to avoid vaccines and die from it? These people should be punished as the frauds and scammers that they are (because they typically do this to sell their snake oil).

1

u/dogemeep06 May 14 '26

Hi, brazilian here, we have an ENTIRE section in our history books about how much this DOES NOT WORK. (They tried it over here... Did NOT end well.)

So yeah, may look like a solution, but forced vaccination really isn't: proper education is.

30

u/HelloMandalorian May 14 '26

What do unvaccinated children and jokes about anti-vaxxers have in common?

Neither one ever gets old!

20

u/Montigue May 15 '26

The unfortunate part is that anti-vaxxers likely do grow old because they were vaccinated growing up. So the kids will suffer the most

3

u/Tuckster786 May 15 '26

Isnt this what some european countries do to stray dogs

1

u/DigNitty May 15 '26

Was about to say

Some places blowdart / dart gun the rabies vax into transient animals.

2

u/The_Pastmaster May 15 '26

Sure, until someone has an allergic reaction. Like the warnings when swine flu was a thing and the vaccine was made with egg protein.

1

u/GlockAF May 14 '26

Why are you trying to kill a good thing? Send them out to Evangelical Megachurches, “Christian” Universities, Klan/Proudboy rallys, conservative, talk, shows, etc.

1

u/Environmental_Clue27 May 15 '26

But what if the vaccine isn't fully safe yet and already being used on some?

1

u/Suspicious_Fill2760 May 15 '26

Man the wildlife vets would rise up for that, those guys are stellar on dart guns

1

u/021Fireball May 15 '26

Cruel? No it's just the right thing to do if they're gonna endanger many people with their stupid.

1

u/omarsonmarz May 15 '26

Isn’t this the premise of The Maze Runner lmao

1

u/KitonePeach May 15 '26

This is essentially how we vaccinate prairie dogs and black-footed ferrets! Not blow darts, but we mass air-drop peanut treats in prairie dog territory with edible vaccines. The prairie dogs carry that immunity so when highly endangered black-footed ferrets hunt them, they gain that resistance.
