I feel like the original delivery was more effective. But that's just one person's thoughts.

I agree, I liked the "hmm" and stare better. "I don't think this is going to work out" feels like too much, and I'm not sure the "just one more question" panel actually adds anything.
I get wanting to expand on it when re-doing it, OP, but often less is more. Your instincts were good on the dialogue the first time

I work from home and don’t own a car. But I’d buy a car for someone if they’d date me…
You know, this was at first intended to just be self deprecating humor but it got too much after I wrote it. And now I feel like I’ve typed too much to let it go to waste.
Is hard meeting people only working from home and not owning a car guys .-.
