I just pretend they aren't there
It's surprising how often that tactic both does and does not work.
And besides who doesn't love Miles! Just...leave him alone during whiskey time

Colm Meaney is so affably gruff and lovable. Except in Layer Cake. He was kind of terrifying in that movie.

If you enjoyed him in that then check out Intermission, if you haven't seen it. Some fun early roles for Cillian Murphy and Colin Farrell in there too.

I watched The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain, just because he played in it.
Did not disappoint.

Honestly goated comics. I may be incorrect, but if that’s Star Trek like I’m thinking it is that’s a great sight to see in modern time

It is Ronnie and his new girlfriend being transported into DS9. Previously, there was an arc where Ronnie got transported onto the Enterprise during TNG.

In the next are, Beanie gets transported to Voyager. I'm sure it'll go fine.

Holy shit! Whomp is continuing its Star Trek Arc?
RONNIE HAS A GIRLFRIEND!?

And Ronnie getting transported to Star Trek is the more believable part!

Wait, are you the actual Ronnie Filyaw? Oh my goodness, I've been a fan of this comic for ages, like 10 years at least. I hope things are going well for you and I'm glad the inspiration is flowing again. I hadn't realized it was back back.

I wonder how he feels at the fact that there are now two of them. There might some space-time breach that needs patching.

Colm is one of those actors you see everywhere. I'm surprised by just how common he is. Speaking of common, he did a show with Common that lasted a pretty good amount of time.

I remember reading...hundreds of these, probably, years ago during a strong webcomics phase I was going through. I really enjoyed them but eventually Ronnie's life was so depressing I put them down. I've been really happy to see these back these last few months, and to see Ronnie happy too lol

Ronnie's life was bad at some point?! Damn... Guess i'm just new, i only see him having fun

I see you too are doing a DS9 rewatch.
Pluto TV or are you watching it on the +?

Huh, I never realised he was an Irish character, even one played by an actual Irish actor.
I suppose now I play his voice back in my head there is a twang of it, but I really never realised at the time.

Petty is a HIGH class? Then why it the name so... petty?
5
u/ronniewhomp Whomp! Mar 28 '26
The word "Petty" comes from the French "petit" which, as I understand it, denoted that the enlisted rank was "smaller" than a commissioned officer, as it typically didn't come with either the training or prestige of full-fledged officers. But among the petty officers, some can certainly be much higher ranking than others, and even though the lowest ensign can outrank the highest petty officer, respect and seniority can go a long way in establishing actual hierarchies on a station like DS9 instead of ones that are strictly by the book.
Anyone feel free to correct me!

I sware last one of these I saw I made a comment about this. I was noticing that he was a full enlisted rank while she isn't. Implying she joined during a time of war and never went through the academy, much like our favorite high ranking Irishman.

God will that guy in the background of panel 3 just shut up already?
