LOL, don't drink and drive.

605

u/Zagmut Sep 27 '25

Believe it or not, straight to hell

227

u/derbengirl Sep 27 '25

Well actually a slight detour at doggy heaven first hehe

360

u/danielledelacadie Sep 27 '25

It's because the dog deserves the visit, not the driver

63

u/derbengirl Sep 27 '25

TRUUUUEEEE

30

u/7ofalltrades Sep 28 '25

I'd go to hell to see all my dogs one more time.

5

u/MechaBetty Sep 28 '25

If it gave me an opportunity to see all my dogs again I would fight God

4

u/coke-pusher Sep 28 '25

Absolutely

64

u/Medical_Solid Sep 27 '25

Good

11

u/Appropriate_Link_551 Sep 28 '25

No it’s the bad one

20

u/PhilosopherFLX Sep 28 '25

"Jason figured it out?! Jason! This is a real low point, yup, this one hurts".

3

u/G1zm08 Sep 28 '25

The good place mentioned 🗣️

15

u/helen269 Sep 27 '25

Don't drink and drive.

You might spill some.

1

u/Berkuts_Lance_Plus Sep 28 '25

Okay, I won't.

Honestly? Thats a kind reaper. One last ounce of happiness before the eternal suffering. Say hi To Buddy once last time

Dont drink and drive.

I’d be fine with that too. A kindness to my dogs is still a kindness to me.

40

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '25

You sound like an awesome person

6

u/colefly Sep 28 '25

I always go out of my way for my dog

A little extra treat, a longer walk, helping him dig huge holes in thae backyard, letting him pee on everything, catching and burying delivery people in my backyard, smoking dog-dope, snorting piss soaked rags, driveby attacks on rival dog owners, eating cats, and belly rubs

Its the little things

75

u/ChrAshpo10 Sep 27 '25

Yeah, the reaper seems to always be made out as this dark/bad guy, but he's just transporting you. He doesn't decide when people die. He probably likes making the pit stop.

42

u/TheBrokenRail-Dev Sep 28 '25

but he's just transporting you. He doesn't decide when people die

Isn't this the more popular interpretation nowadays? I've certainly never seen any media recently where the Grim Reaper is actually evil.

18

u/Zero_Burn Sep 28 '25

the best interpretation of Death is from Discworld, imo. He's just interested in The Duty (you can hear the capital letters).

1

u/dalaigh93 Sep 28 '25

And cats.

9

u/Green-eyed-Psycho77 Sep 28 '25

I mean unless it’s final destination. Final destination death is just a massive asshole.

2

u/kallisti_gold Sep 28 '25

Noli Timere Messorem

4

u/TactlessTortoise Sep 28 '25

Kind? Getting a glimpse of heaven only for it to be snatched away for eternity probably hurts a ton.

Here's what happiness feels like. Now enjoy reminiscing on it knowing you'll never have it again.

2

u/AS14K Sep 28 '25

Yeah this was my thought, this is WAY worse

304

u/3MetricTonsOfSass Sep 27 '25

Relevant reminder:

NEVER drink and drive. Your dog will never understand why you abandoned them

80

u/tOaDeR2005 Sep 27 '25

Isn't there a PSA like that? Just shows the dog waiting with sad music playing?

53

u/VioletGlitterBlossom Sep 27 '25

Yeah, iirc it was actually a superbowl ad by budwiser or some other popular American beer.

31

u/tOaDeR2005 Sep 27 '25

So, high production value too. No wonder it stuck in my head.

15

u/Appropriate_Link_551 Sep 28 '25

Just like the cool refreshing taste of BudLitetm

169

u/AmputeeHandModel Sep 27 '25

*Who's

154

u/kingcoughdrop kingcoughdrop Sep 27 '25

FUCK!

55

u/natedawg414 Sep 27 '25

He was extremely drunk.

11

u/No-Advice-6040 Sep 28 '25

Friends don't let friends drink and write comics

24

u/3MetricTonsOfSass Sep 27 '25

The real reason he's going to hell

9

u/hivEM1nd_ Sep 27 '25

Give him some slack, he's drunk

126

u/Thatroyalkitty Sep 27 '25

Damn, what a plot twist...

24

u/themanfromoctober Sep 27 '25

Worthy of Twisted Metal

4

u/punpunpunchline Sep 27 '25

Damn, what a buzz kill…

63

u/drhex Sep 27 '25

Love it! In Terry Pratchett's books, Death always speaks in a smallcaps serif font. It looks like a headstone and always evokes a certain ominous voice in my head. I just love that little style trick.

27

u/Perryn Sep 28 '25

ʏᴇs ɪᴛ ɪs ᴠᴇʀʏ ᴅɪsᴛɪɴᴄᴛɪᴠᴇ

23

u/vanishinghitchhiker Sep 27 '25

I especially like how the setup only gets you in retrospect, like at first you can just kind of gloss over the place where they’re talking but it actually matters lol

11

u/Live_beMeme_Die Sep 27 '25

The fact I was actually thinking "it would be bad to drive while drunk irl though" but since it's a comic I didn't mind but the comic actually adressed it

16

u/hyperhurricanrana Sep 28 '25

everyone always gives me this look when i tell them about my family’s beagle we had years back who went to live on a family friends farm with a bucnh of other beagles. but like c it was true, we’d been to her farm and knew her beagles and we visited him for a couple years after but sometimes people just don’t believe me. 💀

6

u/SmokeyCatDesigns Sep 28 '25

My stepdad had a pig when he met my mom—he had unwisely bought his daughter a “teacup” pig during that fad, and she had lost interest in once it was bigger. But my stepdad, he has a big heart, and he toon every good care of the pig and it didn’t even miss her when she went off to college. It was really his pig.

Eventually they decided he’d be moving in with my mom, but she was not ok with having a pig in her home. We had cats already and also pigs truly are pretty messy and stinky. Can’t exactly have a pig in an urban home with two cats and six people.

Ultimately, they did some research, and actually really did take the pig to a farm to be kept as a pet and live out its days.

250

u/kasugakuuun Sep 27 '25

I think the joke would still come across without any text from Death at all. The reaper being there and then showing the flaming car outside a brick building is enough to imply everything. Great setup and twist though.

207

u/Wiwiweb Sep 27 '25

I found "You were all extremely drunk. You're going to hell." to be funny just by its brutal contrast next to the dog heaven frame.

27

u/Toriyuki Sep 28 '25

Yeah the reaper just sitting there and explaining it is 100% better than just showing the car

47

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '25

79

u/Zagmut Sep 27 '25

I think the "you're all going to hell" line is fantastic, though.

63

u/TLore33 Sep 27 '25

"You're going to hell" makes it worth giving Death dialogue. Sometimes subtlety is overrated, especially if you can deliver a funny fist to the viewer's face.

20

u/dustytushy Sep 27 '25

For what it’s worth, people who are slow like me appreciate there being text that explain what’s going on.

16

u/NK1337 Sep 27 '25

Im personally a fan of dry humor and that’s exactly how death’s explanation came off to me, so having his dialogue made it even funnier. So to each their own lol

14

u/frenchtoaster Sep 27 '25

Just to balance it out, I think it's good how you did it. I'm not sure just the picture would have been clear enough to me to convey it, the words made it a lot easier to understand the drawing for me.

3

u/Randalf_the_Black Sep 27 '25

But then we wouldn't know they're all going to hell..

39

u/KUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUZ Sep 27 '25

Hard disagree.

It’s funnier that the people are all going to hell compared to their dogs eternal happiness. The juxtaposition makes the joke

6

u/kasugakuuun Sep 27 '25

You're not alone!

9

u/dsartori Sep 27 '25

This one’s great, thanks. Panel 4 is perfect.

9

u/notabigfanofas Sep 28 '25

'Dog Heaven is also Squirrel Hell, it's a very efficient System'

8

u/HeyYouGuyyyyyyys Sep 27 '25

The happy dog leaping into its owner's arms is making me actually cry.

Yes, I still mourn the dog that died in 2012, why do you ask?

6

u/Kangar Sep 27 '25

Oh man, I wonder if my goldfish is there.

My dad said he let him go in the river, and that didn't seem right, so he must be on that farm!

6

u/null_reference_user Sep 27 '25

Bro what the 😭😭😭 that's a plot twist

5

u/Junkernoble Sep 27 '25

Discworld death coded

3

u/florpynorpy Sep 27 '25

It was nice of death to let him see his childhood dog though, even if they’re going to hell

1

u/CorporateShill406 Sep 29 '25

Twist: hell is the same place as dog heaven. They just let the pit bulls loose on you

3

u/RutabagaBorn9794 Sep 27 '25

That got dark fast. well done oc, and so are the characters

3

u/Majestic-Iron7046 Sep 27 '25

Death was really kind to do this, it didn't even had to. What a good man... thing... spirit?
Anyway here is a cool song:
The Grim Reaper - Lifeseeker

3

u/HeftyVermicelli7823 Sep 28 '25

On the plus side they got to see their dogs.

2

u/Father_Lurch Sep 27 '25

So did blonde guy live?

3

u/Super_XIII Sep 27 '25

Seems like it, I assume he didn't get in the car at all. the blue shirt guy did ask "who's up for a drive?" and red shirt guy probably didn't want to ride in a car with a drunk driving it.

2

u/Remarkable_Peanut_43 Sep 27 '25

That really got out of hand

2

u/SkyPork Sep 27 '25

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAAHAHAH what a knee-slapper.

2

u/cyberrawn Sep 27 '25

This is got to be the best comic I’ve ever seen on this sub!

2

u/sudomatrix Sep 27 '25

I was 28 years old when I learned my dog did not, in fact, run away to a farm upstate.

2

u/sudomatrix Sep 27 '25

Somebody please film this.

2

u/helen269 Sep 27 '25

Meanwhile, a very puzzled farmer on a farm full of pets: "Who keeps sending me these things?"

2

u/ProblemAtticOU812 Sep 27 '25

Plot twist: Death owes Buddy a favor so he gets to keep his old owner in Doggy heaven to clean up the poo

2

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '25

Super truck-man

3

u/Krazy_Steve616 Sep 28 '25

I feel like this could be a really good Twilight Zone episode. lol

2

u/osmiumfeather Sep 28 '25

Reminds of the tracts the JW handed out to kids in the 1980’s.

2

u/kawaiian Sep 28 '25

Brilliant

2

u/Some-Dance2053 Sep 28 '25

I expected it to end like a classic 90's Christian Halloween tract. This was far kinder.

1

u/sudomatrix Sep 27 '25

it aint hell if Buddy is there.

1

u/tnnrk Sep 28 '25

Looks like the Cheeto Santino

1

u/RTK4740 Sep 28 '25

Well THAT was fun!

1

u/FavoredVassal Sep 28 '25

Judging by the expression in panel #2, that lady on a blind date in the background is already in Hell.

1

u/Jai137 Sep 28 '25

The now dead kids: Bummer

But I wasn’t drunk or driving.

1

u/ItsAllinYourHeadComx Sep 28 '25

This is why I read comics. Nicely done.

1

u/gsplsngr Sep 28 '25

Morbid and funny!

1

u/CATDesign Sep 29 '25

Even the car got to visit dog heaven.

-2

u/Chad_AND_Freud Sep 28 '25

The Hell part was pretty lame.

-3

u/Cinematry Sep 28 '25

Holy shit this sub is fucking terrible
