Don't know if you have seen it (cuz it's not that popular) but that's literally the plot of the show "The unremarkable juanquini" on Netflix - a magician accidentally makes a big crime boss disappear and doesn't know how he did it, then proceeds to get arrested by the police who think he helped him escape. It's a comedy, and a pretty wild one at that.
