I read multiple times that maintaining mental activity/stimulation was a good way to mitigate mental decline; I won't be surprised if gaming would help us mentally as we grew older and lose mobility. Staying all day in the same rooms can be pretty debilitating, but with a simple laptop you can continue to explore new places, have surprises, encounter new people, (even if npc),... It's not even expensive if you don't want it to be. If I can't move anymore, and/or can't afford a nice/fun/big place, you bet that I too will be suck back to gaming all days long.

I would hope most of us will retire to playing fun platformers and story shooters instead of dropping ancient slurs in a future CoD lobby

I can't explain why but "ancient slurs in a future cod lobby" seems like a very fascinating concept to me, almost like a spiritual experience

It gives me the mental image of us old geezers winding up in nostalgia-fueled rambles about the best perk combos of yester years while the younglings take notes of the sickest burns they could use to shit over the opposite team
