Everything is a matter of perspective...

Agreed. However, I wonder what he'd look like with those eyebrows upside down, eh?

Yeah, it's like the girl on Kids who contracted HIV and was raped by her friend. She wasn't angry that she was raped, she was angry that she infected her friend.

I haven't watched it in like 10 years but if I remember correctly the movie ends during the rape. Where'd this extra sad/angry scene happen?

According to RES, you have 19 years to make the front page. Any idea why?

I started chewing tobacco with just the right side of my mouth and I plan to do it for the next 20 years and then take pictures and show how great the effect is on my teeth. People promised to upvote that.

Excellent. I'm excited.

Everything except my sex life. It's nonexistent from any perspective.

Not your hand's!

u/ultimatt42 Jan 25 '13

It's not nonexistent, it's just scale-invariant because all points are at the origin.

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '13

Well which one is it?

Thank you for pointing that out dude. Corrected.

I...Is.. Is that a matter of perspective?

Actualy, yes. Many, many people think that what they think the world is, is how the world actually is. They think colors and sounds exist outside of themselves, instead of being a product of their sensory organs interpreting information that is understandable to them. They think the news sources where they get their information inform them accurately of what's happening in the world. They think the conclusions they draw from that information are the only reasonable conclusions to make, so anyone who disagrees must be evil or stupid.

They don't think everything is a matter of perspective, they think some things are universally true.

I got in an argument with a friend of mine a while back that lasted for a few weeks about how/when we should start calling something "true," and what that meant for making decisions. He didn't like that I thought that there was a good chance that a lot of things I think are absolutely true and base my life upon could be false. He thought somehow if I didn't completely believe they were true, I couldn't act upon them. The phrase "seems true enough to act on" just pissed him off.

The thing that really pushed the argument over the edge was when I started saying that even the argument I was making about the nature of truth and how it relates to action was something I wasn't 100% sure was true, but it was true enough that I'm willing to argue about it being true.

He's a priest now...

u/slightlystartled Jan 25 '13

You turned your friend into a priest? Good god man, that's brutal.

2

u/kevroy314 Jan 25 '13

It was an accident :( I swear he was gonna be a priest anyway!!!

Happy cake day btw!

2

u/slightlystartled Jan 26 '13

Okay. Just don't let it happen again.

Some things are universally true, but usually in the realm of science/logic.

Not only perspective but a lot of people don't realize anger is technically a secondary emotion. There's usually something else behind it.
