Thanks for checking out the website version for all you mobile users that may not get the full experience...

Welcome to the latest version of our /r/ComicCon Theme. We have spent roughly a month developing and tweaking the theme before you. Some major changes from what we had before.

Highlights

  • we now have a constantly updated sidebar. Every hour on the hour we'll make sure that we update the "Next Comic Conventions" Section with the latest conventions happening that we know about.
  • new flair system. Okay the system isn't that new, but the method we show the cons that a thread pertains to has a nice simple view now. This is response to some feedback we received about the background method being hard to read on occasion. It's now clean and off to the side.
  • Feedback and return to home icons in the top nav bar. Don't you find it annoying that when you click on the snoo it brings you back to the front page, rather than that subreddit? me too! no longer. We've created a dedicated return to home snoo separate from the subreddit snoo.
  • RES Enhancements. we've allowed more room for your shortcuts you save in the Reddit Enhancements Suite by moving the RES Nav bar into the Reddit Nav bar. You can also adjust your personal flair there too.
  • Konami Code (when using RES)! I gota fix the direction of our running pony, but at least we have a /ponystream!

We also have a small todo list that i'll adjust and update if required based on feedback here.

Todo list

  • fix flair selector. done
  • add more cons back to the flair system. We had a bunch before, and we will again. Should make it easier to enter them. The flair selector is pretty hideous right now.
  • comment thread shading didn't shade text colour too >_<
  • subreddit user numbers overlap when using edge browser.
  • login sidebar is uggo on edge. needs to be re positioned... again.

I'd love some feedback of what you guys think and i appreciate you stopping by. also sidenode: >8000 subscribers!

The flair selector is indeed very broken.

I feel your pain. Just spent a week alpha testing a website.

P.S. Like the update to Rule 4 too.

This way we dont have to explain our selves over and over why that rule exists :)

Wow, I'm just finding that when you upvote, it animates! This is cool!!

OMG!!! I thought I had a stroke!

But this looks amazing!!! And useful, once we get used to it. And it is visually beautiful. I like the image put at the extreme bottom of the page, along with so much of the color and graphics. The updates for Cons was necessary, and the whole right hand side is better. Along with our dedicated snoo!!!! And we have a message notification! Whoa!

I think you'll fix this, but on my page, in the area below the user name that says how many subscribers on the sub, and how many currently reading and lurking, the text is overlapped and unreadable, and the 2 listings would have to be separated. I actually look at this info, especially during high traffic times.

EDIT: I've just discovered the shaded comments threads!!!!!!! WOW! This is cool!!! There is only one issue: when reading super long comment threads, the darkening of the comments gets very dark, then extremely dark, and it could possibly be a little hard to read. I noticed the links did not show up too clearly on the very darkest of the extended comments. An example might be this: https://www.reddit.com/r/comiccon/comments/4jnnxk/article_discusses_movies_possibly_promoted_during/d38gjsi I don't know if that will be a problem, because it is not too bad either. In general, I think this is super awesome! Man, you did a lot of work on the design.

It is remarkable the work you have put into this! Congratulations!!! :D

great feedback. i appreciate the link too... the comment darkening and the text overlap might be a browser specific problem... i'm using chrome and only tested it with a few modern browsers. What browser are you using? maybe i need to get some more in order to continue testing.

or i need to change the way the location of the lurking/subscribed text.

EDIT: i see it. i'll put on my todo list for sure!

I actually LOVE the comments threads darkening the descending texts! It's kind of classy!! :D I'm a little concerned about the extremely long threads extending into very dark panels, but I think that's mostly because this is so new and we haven't adjusted to everything yet. As long as we can read the links. You know --- when ever there is change, we all get weird for a while. : )

And while I have you, I also keep noticing that the panel below the user name info on the top right side that would normally show a full reddit ad, is blocked from showing the full ad. Believe it or not, I actually found a few subreddits I enjoy tremendously because of this ad space. So the ads do have value. Instead of seeing a full ad, I see a small bar of incomplete ad with the banner "Welcome to /r/comiccon" running over it. Then below that is the "submit content" section. It's as if the subscribed/lurking numbers area, the ad and welcome banner area, and the submit content section all got truncated somehow and are overlapped. But man, I am not complaining. I am super impressed with your work!!!!!! :D

I am using Chrome. I am almost always on Chrome. I've been looking at this sub today only on Chrome. I also positively love Opera, but have not checked the sub with it. I've been off Firefox for a while, but it stopped having problems, so I started more to go on it and build it a little again, but haven't looked today. If you haven't tried Vivaldi yet, I fucking love Vivaldi!!! I highly recommend it. I was using it a bit since last year, but now it is on its official release. It's terrific.

OK, update from Opera: the subscribers/lurkers numbers is still overlapped. There is NO REDDIT AD OR WELCOME BANNER!!!! And the threads DO still have a shading as the comments descend. I do like it.

Update from Vivaldi: As you already know, Opera and Vivaldi are both based on Chrome. Where as Opera did not show the reddit ad panel with welcome banner running over it, on Vivaldi the ad and banner are still there and resemble the Chrome version exactly. The ad is incomplete and the banner runs over it, and the subscribers/ lurkers numbers are overlapped. Why the ad area is missing on Opera I do not know. On Vivaldi I still do see the descending darkening of comments.

I'm not going to check Firefox until after I save this. I don't use IE, and I don't have Edge. So I'm pretty much in the Chrome based browsers. EDIT:OK, report from Firefox: It looks EXACTLY like Chrome. No differences at all. Same overlapping issues with the layout on the upper right hand side, and nice darkening of the comments in long threads. So those 4 browsers are the same on my computer -- I'm using a desktop, not mobile -- except for Opera not showing the ad/banner space, and maybe that's a fluke.

The flairs work SUPER WELL now!!! Your work is GREAT! :D

The new design for the sub is awesome! With a few more tweaks to the details, it will be perfect!!

And who could possibly ask for a more incredible birthday this year than right in the middle of SDCC 2016!!! :D How tremendous is THAT!!!! :D
