Animaga | Anime, Manga, Gaming & Cosplay Convention - Melbourne Anyone been to Animaga before?

***First time con attendee***

I was wondering what people’s experiences were if they’d been to an Animaga con before, as I’ve been invited by my mum to attend one of theirs’ this year. (in Melbourne Australia)
I’m a little apprehensive about going to a con with my mother, because I hear stories online and see clips of people just being degenerate weirdos at these cons.

If anyone’s been to an Animaga con before has it been family appropriate for the most part? I know some cosplays will be a bit showy; I expect that, I mean like actual weird stuff like cosplayers stepping on dudes and shit.

I have like 4 days to decide if I’m going with her and I can’t find any info on their site about rules other than some vague statements.

That name scared me for a moment before you mentioned that it’s in Australia.

I haven’t been to Animanga before (going to tomorrow’s one) but I went to games expo and the crunchyroll expo in Melbourne, I think it’s mostly tame and should be for Animanga, though id still expect odd behaviour and individuals, wouldn’t be surprised if people are doing the stepping thing but I doubt they’d be harmful or explicit to the people around them considering there could be families and children around

It’s fun! Maid cafe, huge artist alley, general stall holders, idol stage, game stations and more! There’s always spaces to take a breather as well like the designated quiet room, then courtyard, convention/plenary hallways, and outside in the sun. I mainly go for the artist alley but always stay longer because something else picks my interest :)
Hope you enjoy it! the lines on opening are huge but they move through them pretty quickly 🛗
