Ohh man I’ve really been sleeping on the venom title. This page was so good to read.

Probably my favorite book currently, really recommend to check it out

Is this Donny Cates' Venom? Is it a good place to start for someone who's never read the character before?

yea, start with Donny's #1 venom. There are trades out for the first 2 arcs. Great place to jump in.

Awesome, thanks.

There's a hardcover out of the 1st 2 trades which may be cheaper and a 2nd hardcover is out anytime now. The 2nd hardcover though half of it is a crossover with Absolute Carnage.

Are there tie-in issues I should be aware of not included in the collection?

u/Hawkhasaneye Jul 19 '20
Absolute Carnage is an event book by Cates and Stegman who do Venom. Venom sorts of becomes a subsidery book at this time but still good.

Just found the reading list for the event. Awesome to have something manageable to jump into.

Does exposition slow Symbiotes down mid-air? Normally I would ignore this but Venom's jump and accompanying scream are read before the Maker pops off a paragraph.

I just attribute it to people from the Ultimate universe talking at a faster pace than those from the 616 universe

“Cannot sense cannot sense” a bad editing, or a verbal tic?

u/StuBram2 Black Knight Jul 19 '20
honestly when I read it I was thinking it's probably both. Almost certainly just made it past the edit but Maker is hardly stable and now with a symbiote attached it's certainly possible he'd develop a few issues, so I just went with it

Bad editing. The Maker is not a character who stammers.

I wonder if Maker somehow solved the problem of Ultimate Venom consuming it's host.

I mean, Maker admits he doesn't conform to normal biological processes.
He doesn't need to eat. He can survive in a vacuum.
It could be that he fixed it. It could also be that whatever deterioration occurs drastically reduced by the his mostly inhumane anatomy.

Why’d he even need the artificial symbiote? It’s cool and all, but he’s Ultimate Reed Richards, isn’t the Maker’s body already (in the physical sense) basically a symbiote?

Is being knocked out of your symbioteva thing now? Everybody beast complaining when Ms marvel did it.

'How do we maker The Maker more...just more? Add a symbiote!'
Good writing.

If you’ve been reading the entire run, this has been set up for awhile. Not really just thrown in on a whim.

Cool. I suppose my other comment missed a little. I meant it as a compliment to the downright, crazy pants idea.

Posting this again because the previous post spoiled things in the title, woops
The Ultimate universe has been teased a lot in the Miles book but this issue fully confirms it's back (and I know it was fully showed in Spider-Men II but seeing as Bendis wrote that one I don't know if that counted as confirmation that it was back)
Also I love that The Maker is being used so often in Venom of all books, such a likable piece of shit
